Passing on of knowledge over the generations through an organised institution. Like the orators of past/present cultures. The knowledge is still relevant. I think the main point is to try and interpret why. Good point, but evolving needs new ideas for progress and the passing of ancient knowlege could pull a culture backwards Evolve too fast and things spiral out of "control." Giving everyone the keys to do ANYTHING they wanted would cause a lot of chaos and death. We have "advanced" slowly through history... or have we?
