What is going on with meteor scan?

I didnt even think about taking a screen shot, so I don't have one either. When I clicked the link it was completely red with one very tall bright yellow peak right about in the middle.

This happens every few weeks. Most people think it's an update or re-calibration or something like that.

Summertime meteors, occasionally flitting across your line of sight, are especially noticeable between mid-July and the third week of August. Between Aug. 3 and 15, there are no fewer than six different active minor displays.

how do you determine where the meteor fell?

I know !! It's been doing that off and on all night. I've never seen it like that before. That's why I wondered if we're going through a dust cloud or something......

I believe that the "scan" picks up anything that touches our atmosphere... not necessarily that one hits the eaarth ???
