I took these with a canon rebel xt, tripod and remote. Very clear and still conditions. The object inset is blown up, and several look to have 2 objects in them that look like rocks to me. Be sure to slide show (you can change time intervals from 5 to 2 seconds) and the pics are larger.
I started a thread to offer them, because I have typed this info several times in other threads. I decided to post it this way and then I don't have to keep replying.
This was a very unusually bright "star" and after reading further, it is quite possible it is part of the comet. To the naked eye, it was big and bright.
Please comment!
Thanks!

Sorry no pun intended but it looks a bit similar to many pics of glowing objects, tho these would be recognisable by their more erratic movements. I am here to challenge your indoctrinated false belief that flaming queens don't use shovels ... |

Doesn't this read that it appears to have a double nucleus on May 2nd?
#
May 3: there are as yet unconfirmed reports that B is in outburst (which means it may have brightened significantly) as well as an abrupt change in morphology of the nucleus.
#
May 2: images are once again showing a double nucleus in component B
#
May 1: C is naked eye, B is obvious in binoculars, G is difficult, R is in outburst and now visible in an 8-inch telescope. See the Current Appearance section below for more info.
#
April 30: Component C is a confirmed naked-eye object.
#
April 29: There have been several reports lately of component R being seen in 10-inch or larger instruments, and at the same time several reports have circulated that component G has faded from view or become diffuse and very difficult. Given the high surface brightness of component R it might be visible in a 6-inch telescope tonight, and it is also possible that it will continue to brighten nightly, so I urge observers to have a look for it. A visual observation of G would also be very helpful, even if not seen (it is important to report null observations!) |

Thanks for sharing!

Again, I'm not sure what you photographed but what I saw looks similar to pic 064. I'm not sure what this means at this point. Contrails filled the eastern sky this morning so I couldn't see anything. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 89260 5/4/2006 1:46 PM | | Re: >>>Comet<<< ***PHOTOS*** May 3rd Eastern Sky prior to sunrise | Quote | So Venus really isn't that viewable right now? That's interesting.
I was on an overnight sail trip this weekend and pointed out a very bright object high in the sky, was told it was Venus.
Now I gotta wonder a little... |

jona User ID: 89265 5/4/2006 2:01 PM | | Re: >>>Comet<<< ***PHOTOS*** May 3rd Eastern Sky prior to sunrise | Quote | No, it's not a comet.
Doesn't much look like a star or planet either.
Kinda doubting you caught a supernova or a galaxy split.
If I'd never seen a ufo, I'd probably say you faked the photos, but I have seen ufos and these resemble some that I've seen.
Although this one appears to have several points of light with a halo around it.

and it looks like the comet would if viewed.. (I don't want to say this).. head-on.
Ah shit, I better go buy some extra cat food. |

can you honestly look at this
[link to image53.webshots.com]
I mean physically click on the link and LOOK at this photo and tell me that's Venus?
And the thing in that link doesn't look like the other photos. Not at all. |

The link I posted shows several.
It's not the camera optics.
You apparently can't admit to being wrong. |
|
j. User ID: 89265 5/4/2006 2:20 PM | | Re: >>>Comet<<< ***PHOTOS*** May 3rd Eastern Sky prior to sunrise | Quote | And Venus at that time in central California would have been much lower on the horizon.
SW3 is supposed to be on the edge of Lyra and at 5:30 am Lyra IS in that vicinity. |
