Hear ya, but this was just the 'unreported debt', not to be confused with the off-the-books long term obligations (social security and medicare). Add those in, and the number is closer to what you are talking about, though much greater...somewhere around $230T.

Reserve currency or not, when the interest on your debt gets so large that you have to issue more debt (print) to cover it, the value of your currency collapses...whether anyone else is still buying it or not.

and if they try, like iraq, they go in and take the fuck over....

They could say it 's not 12 but 120 trillion in debt and it would not make any difference. It's all funny money anyway and can never be paid back as there are not enough dollar in circulation so it's not possible.

It's just a number they throw out there to psychologically convince you that new taxes to be levied to the people are justified and you won't complain.

the reality tho... our dollar isn't going to be the top currency eventually. once it drops, and China's dollar goes higher, technically we wont owe them as much. but regardless, it'll never be paid off. For example, we wasted over 150 million dollars on a US building in Afghanistan that we aren't even using. Now it's either going to be demolished, or given to the Afghanistan military. BUT!!!! If it is given to them, we will have to spend about another 50 million gutting it out and cleaning all of our US technology & such out of it! HAHAHA catching on yet? lol... Even one of the top generals of our US Army told the government to stop building it and that it was a huge waste of military funds.
