Uncle Fuck Stick (OP) User ID: 44794778 United States 08/08/2013 08:36 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to www.standard.co.uk] A continuing baby boom has sent London’s population to a new peak with more than 100,000 extra residents last year. Figures released today by the Office for National Statistics show that the capital’s population stood at 8,308,000 in the middle of last year. That is 104,000 more than a year earlier —equivalent to half the current population of Islington or Richmond — and represents an increase of 1.27 per cent in the 12-month period. The new London population figure is also 13.5 per cent more than the equivalent total in 2001, since when the numbers cramming into the capital have risen at one of the fastest rates in history. The main reason for the latest surge is the birth of 134,000 babies in the capital up to the middle of last year. That figure is 30,000 up on the equivalent total in 2002 and reflects a leap in the birth rate over recent years which statisticians today said showed “no sign” of slowing. Deaths remain low, by contrast, with only 47,570 fatalities in London during the same period. That means that the overall increase through “natural change” — the difference between births and deaths — was 86,000 in London’s population. Today’s statistics, which suggest that the crisis over London primary school places is likely to intensify over the next decade, also reveal continuing high levels of migration into the capital. It gained, through net migration, an extra 69,000 during the year — made up of 176,000 arrivals from overseas and 107,000 departures. That was partially outweighed by a net exodus of 51,000 mostly older residents to different parts of the country, mainly other areas of the South-East, and East Anglia. Paul Vickers, head of population statistics at the ONS, said: “London’s population has gone up by more than an eighth over the last 11 years, which is a very striking increase.” Boroughs with the largest increase include Tower Hamlets, Hillingdon and Barnet, which all gained more than 6,000 extra people during the year. But two boroughs — Hammersmith and Fulham and Kensington and Chelsea — saw their populations fall, mainly because of more people migrating overseas than arriving. The UK population has grown by more than 400,000 to 63.7 million. The growth of 419,900 in the past year means Britain saw the biggest growth of any country in Europe in the yea :4hlick: |

I'm checking it. Found stats for 2005-2008, but it seems that the areas with the biggest muslim population don't mention their ethnicity: "Ethnicity was recorded as ‘Not Stated’ for 9.6 per cent of records in England and Wales. However, this is not evenly distributed across Local Authorities which vary from complete data to 98 per cent ‘Not Stated’. The East Midlands region has the areas with the highest proportions of ‘Not Stated’: Leicester (98.0 per cent),Lincolnshire (70.8 per cent) and Rutland (59.4 per cent). The population estimates show that Leicester in particular has an ethnically diverse population which may indeed have an impact on the birth statistics. However, other ethnically diverse areas (such as London, Birmingham, Luton and Slough) do not have high percentages of ‘Not Stated’ recorded for this variable." [link to www.ons.gov.uk] In other words, all the government statistic don't show the true picture, and there are many many more foreign born babies than they admit. |
