Answer: the generation that it happened to. Father of a developed society disappears into the jungle. Can barely communicate, or speak by the time he comes out 40 years later, and his son can barely speak at all. The mystery of lost civilizations, and lost knowledge always seems to leave people perplexed as to how it could be possible for such knowledge to be gained, and then lost so quickly. The fact is that many of us are specialists in one area, and know little about everything, or perhaps we understand an entire industry from start to finish, but don't know how or where to get the raw materials to feed the industry. Or say that we somehow have the knowledge to dig up iron ore, process the ore, smelt it, mold it into steel molded objects that fit into a well engineered, and well designed complex mechanical device, know where to get raw crude, process that also, and then put all of that together to create a automobile after society has collapsed. How would you have the ability to transport it all? How would you get others to help you? Where would you drive the one car that you had built. While people are hungry and starving would they bother helping you, or would it even be important? [link to www.telegraph.co.uk] |
