I haven't done a car-border crossing since 2004, and it was cake.

Are the Canadian border guards now Nazi's like ours are?

I live an hour from Buffalo and I won tickets for an attraction there. I would have liked to go, but the tickets would expire before I could get a passport so I gave them away. It sucks that we have to get passports now for a day trip.

In my experience, the CBSA Canadian border guards tend to give people a harder time than the Americans.

Just be ready to give honest answers, and have a reason to be crossing the border, where you will be staying, and when you will be returning.

Act nervous or show any attitude, and expect the white glove.

If you are not Canadian or American and crossing into the USA chances are you will have to let them take your fingerprints and a mug shot.

You're likely in for a dicking.

Just like Jim Cornette got,

Canada is becoming Austria 1938 (No different that America)
In a Time of Universal Deceit, Telling the Truth is a Revolutionary Act - George Orwell

Rachel Maddow is HOT!!! - Seriously I'd hit it.

A VOTE FOR JUSTIN TRUDEAU IN 2015, WOULD BE THE MOST COWARDLY & IRRESPONSIBLE THING A CANADIAN CITIZEN COULD DO TO THEIR OWN PEOPLE. GUN GRABBERS ARE THE COMMON ENEMY OF ALL PEOPLE.

GUN CONTROL HAS RESULTED IN THE SLAUGHTER OF 262 MILLION CITIZENS BY THEIR GOVERNMENTS OVER THE PAST 100 YEARS.

THE LIBERAL PARTY OF CANADA & THE NDP ENDORSE GUN CONTROL, AN ESSENTIAL POLICY OF HITLER, STALIN, MAO, POL POT, EDI AMIN, QADDAFI, SADDAM, ASSAD, & EVERY OTHER TYRANNICAL GOVERNMENT THIS PAST CENTURY.

CANADIANS MUST NEVER FORGET THE BETRAYAL OF BILLS C-68 & C-17. WE MUST NOT REST UNTIL THEY ARE FULLY REPEALED.

C-19 WAS A GOOD START......BUT JUST A START. GET OFF YOUR COLLECTIVE ASSES AND MAKE AN IMPACT. WE HAVE 26 MONTHS.

I, THEE BOB, SWEAR ON THE ALTER OF GOD TO FIGHT ALL FORMS OF CANADIAN TYRANNY AND SAVE MY COUNTRY FROM THE EVILS OF THE NEW WORLD ORDER. I WILL NEVER HAND IN MY GUNS. EVER. I AM A FREE MAN, I WILL NOT BE THE BITCH OF THE SOCIALIST ESTABLISHMENT. LEAVE ME ALONE.

I have not found it difficult , but have known others recently who found it a little grilling . One car actually got pulled aside for a vehicle search by US border agents .
Don't lie about anything because they can smell a lie .
Its a shame that it is like this now . The friendly open border of the recent past I miss .

I cross regularly

Canadian guards are FAR better than the American ones. But, the trend is now for them to get just as dickish as the Americans. They are getting more militarized by the day it seems.

Canada is about 10 years behind the police state we have in the USA.

Re: Anybody do Canada/USA car border crossings lately? What can be expected?
I know a guy who was arrested but not charged (or charges dropped or something) with DUI for pot. The charges were dropped because they only had indirect evidence. Years later he tried to drive into Canada just for the day (had been driving around Washington sightseeing) and they wouldn't let him in.
I just this week talked to a guy that this happened to as well. So if you have any kind of record for anything at all, you may get hassled.
Aside from that; you need your passport, they will scan it and look up your record while you sit and pose for the photos being taken of your car, they will ask you what your business is there, and perhaps conduct a search of your vehicle. On the way out the USA will ask what you bought and you may have to show them.

yes, no telling what you might innocently say will cause them to look more closely at you. As your car is in line, they have cameras recording and checking your license plate, so they know more about you than you think by the time you get to the window. I've always suspected they have listening devices too, and are watching to see if you look at all nervous. Not that 99 per cent of us have any reason to.
I did notice a small drone overhead this time that I had never seen the likes of before

Don't be eating anything.

Had a bag of Lays munching, so the guy watches me eating them, walks over and searches my chips.

He then handed the bag back to me. I say, no thanks. You can have them now.

We crossed from MT to BC both ways last week. No problems at all, whisked right through once we got to the head of a LONG LONG line (it was Sunday.) Both US and CAN agents very friendly.
