If we are judging a person's character based on their credit rating; we need to also judge the people that lent the money to someone who is not capable of paying. These are the people that will loan you money at a low interest rate and once you miss a payment; they jack it up to 29.99% interest. There is another group of people who lend money. They are called the mafia and they use the same tactics. There was once a concept called usury and these practices were looked down upon.

But no, let's instead blame the little guy who is completely desperate and nearly defenseless. Let's rely on highly inaccurate and arbitrary credit ratings to judge one's character.

The responsibility should be bared by both the lender and borrower. Look at the mortgage crisis. The media would have you believe it is all the little guy's fault. But the banks and government should never have encouraged lending to people who couldn't afford it. But do we hold them responsible? No.

And I'm sick of all these self righteous people who are successful. I am sure you have worked very hard to achieve you success. But there is a whole lot of people in this country who have been fortunate enough to have never experienced what it is really like to be poor. And it could happen to anyone at any time: illness, job loss, death, tragedy. And you think that you acted completely alone to achieve your success. You forget when you're wealthy or middle class family assisted you or even the government helped you. I have lived off of $500 a month working a full time job. And I brought myself out of that and now make 60k a year. I have worked my ass off to get here and in this current job but honestly I worked as hard or even harder when I was pulling $500-800 a month. It was just in the wrong industry.

You will whine and complain about people who receive government benefits. Did you know that over 90% of American households have received gov. benefits? You will also belittle people who get loans that they have trouble repaying. You don't understand the desperation. Their world is not about buying stupid shit and complaining about these fantastical parasites that are trying to steal your money; that is your world. Their world is 99% about survival. Stop acting like you know what it is like and stop being so judgmental and self righteous.

Being an ex-banker I saw it all on credit reports...

And people will always claim extenuating circumstances. The only extenuating circumstance I gave much credence too was medical, everything else was simple...

You got yourself into it, you promised to pay, and you didn't...

Just wait until interest rates spike. Just like in the 80's, there will be lots of creative financing available. There are plenty of hard-money lenders with tons of cash who would love to be equity partners in a property.

Don't listen to those towing the line of the banksters who want you to believe that they are the only game in town. Plenty of people out there properly understand the risk thing, and you will be able to find a deal that is acceptable to both sides.

Does this apply to those who were forced to file for bankruptcy?

We lost a major amount of work after the crash in 2008. Our business slowed down so much that by 2011 we could no longer afford to pay the bills and we were forced to file for bankruptcy which dropped our credit score down to around 650-675. My credit score was always 775 up until I was forced to file for bankruptcy.

So this means if we give up our business and tried to find work, it would be pretty much impossible?

Credit is not the total sum of a persons character obviously, but it is definitely an indicator, I won't back away from that, I have too much experience that shows me with absolute certainty that this is true...

That being said, someone brought up young people getting overwhelmed with Credit Card debt and student loans...ayup!

Character comes with age and learning from ones mistakes, who would you trust to show up and do a job right for you, an 18 year old kid, or an experienced adult?

So the thing is, we all make mistakes with our credit as kids, I did too...

But did we learn from those mistakes...that's character!

They all think they are above the system, and chances are they won't pay you back...

I bet most Congressional credit scores are around you're IQ, 70 or less...
