USAF and Obama shutting down Space Fence Oct 1
This is mind boggling stupid, to save 14 million they are shutting down the space surveillance system that tracks objects in space.

"The U.S. Air Force will shut down its space surveillance system that tracks satellites and other orbiting objects by October 1 due to budget constraints"

Obviously they don't feel the need to track objects past October 1st.
I'd say something is up, they getting ready to bug out, and they don't want anyone to know about the incomings.

Serious shit

Not redundant. Must be the shills or shrills.

They don't intend to track objects. The ISS and NASA need the space fence to survive. Oct 1st is the date. Only a moron pulls the plug on space tracking before new one is active. Commercial satellites need this info, morons.

Don't you guys get it? They don't want to track objects, because there will be no need. Or this signals to the Russians that the US under Obama plans to withdraw from space and backdown.

Only a dumbass closes down space tracking.

Space Fence does seem to be a redundancy. Another larger and longer running program is called SSN. DARPA and NASA run their own programs as well, though SSN is a conglomeration of these and other sources.

It should be understood that this tracking is orbital path projection tracking, not missile defense tracking. That is handled by NORAD.

Of course any naval vessel can track overhead objects in low earth orbit.

Clearly a $14 million program doesn't represent our entire space tracking capability.

Space fence is about plugging orbital trajectories of satellites and debris into a big computer in Hawaii and predicting future events such as path and decay.

That is wholly separate from missile defense, which is a series of radar stations mostly in Canada.

Also, orbital tracking is entirely duplicated by NASA. DRPA is also involved.

I don't claim to know a lot about this. Your post got me to reading up on it, and what I just stated is a summary of about 2 pages worth of reading I just did. So take it for what it's worth.

Constitutionally, the Navy gets priority funding. The United States was never to have a standing army as well as air-force. The Navy and Marines can handle air and ground forces as well.

Does, it is the cornerstone. How do you think they determine if an object is new or not? From the data from the fence. Hey you guys at the USAF let one slip past the censors. Don't worry only a few caught it. Implications are huge.

It has occurred. However, it must be understood that this has been folded into an international program rather than a nation-centric one.

Thread: USAF and Obama shutting down Space Fence Oct 1

Already posted.

great find for me.

All the surveillance systems rely on the fence. there are only so many ways to track objects in space, a fence is the best way unless there an array of lunar satellites.

When I was in the military i was posted at a site that tracked objects, not like you would think. The fence was the source for everything.

14 million, they spent more on body bags and ammunition in one month.

Pulling the plug on 33 means something as a symbol to someone.

Incoming. The ISS must, must, have the fence to detect objects and divert. They must abandon the ISS.

By saying the system is shut down, they avoid having to explain why their satellites are being destroyed and or being incapacitated due to a) physical impacts, b) radiation impacts, c) solar wind, d) other cosmic unknown. All off which are coming, will be experienced by every life on earth, and is coming from what we call space.

Call it what ever you need to, but the earth changes, government and political maneuvers, global weather, global radiation (under the mask of fukushima -which still did, of course happen), and correspondence to mythology, legend, religion, archeology, prophecy, remote veiwing, channeling, animal behaviors and die offs, planetary changes within our system, solar polar shift and changes, earth pole shift, many incoming near earth objects, the global economic, political, religious, and educational systems failing...

it means buckle your seatbelt Dorothy, 'cause Kansas is going bye-bye

This game is so amazing!

Look at all the things that need to be in place by Oct. 1st

I can't put a link as I will get banned.

15,000 Russians in Baltimore by October 1st.

82% of our combat forces and their supply elements out of CONUS by October 1st.

FEMA purchase orders for over $14.2 million for MREs and heater meals to be delivered to Region III by October 1st.

FEMA purchase orders for 22 million pouches of emergency water to be delivered to region III by October 1st.

FEMA purchase orders for $13.6 million for MREs and heater meals to be delivered to Austin by October 1st.

Nine-week training course for UN Peacekeepers in CONUS to learn Urban Warfare, English, and US weapons systems beginning 4th week of July for 386,000 troops to be completed by October 1st.

$11 million in antibiotics to be delivered to FEMA region III by October 1st ordered by CDC.

World Health Organization held second emergency meeting in its history to discuss MERs coronavirus. Determined a vaccine MUST be in place by October 1st.

2800 MRAPs must be delivered to DHS by October 1st.

No leave will be allowed for US military from September 28th thru November 5th.

NORCOMM yearly training for civil unrest suspended until September 27th. To be performed in northeast coastal areas.

Date for release of QE3 report moved to October 16th.

All DHS agents MUST qualify with sidearm, shotgun and AR 15 by September 28th. No mention of yearly less lethal qualification.

Sporadic testing of GPS and Communications satellites is coordinated for the first time with a testing date of September 29th.

POTUS mandates to FEMA and DHS concerning support for metropolitan communities dealing with the extreme climate change MUST be complete by October 1st. These mandates were issued during the last three weeks.

Over 300 school systems in the US have determined they need three-day kits for each school AND three-day kits for each student to take with them. All deliveries are scheduled for the month of September.

All National Guard units will complete riot control and disaster assistance training during this years annual two week training. All units MUST have their training complete by September 30th.

Daily testing of the Emergency Broadcast System to begin on September 25th and run thru October 2nd.

Eastern-based Coast Guard units to perform massive group training, usually performed in the Gulf, in the Virginia and Delaware areas. This is a 10-day training mission to begin September 26th.

A sidenote to ponder: For the first time in the history of the United Nations, the Secretary General addresses the Assembly, a speech that was broadcast live to over 60 nations, to inform the assembly that while we are dealing with what appears to be two global crises -- extreme climate change and financial downturns -- the governments of the world are working together to resolve the issues before they reach catastrophic proportions. In other words, he addresses the Assembly and the world just to say everything is going to be okay.
