We have lived in wealth for a long time while the rest of the world stood still, now all that bubble spending and living on "buy now and pay 2 years later" bullshit is getting the best of us. The middle class was created it didnt excist. This is slowly being taken away from us, so we as the rest of the world can experience fear. To make you submissive. Realise that the countries you are talking about are countries where poverty is so bad that people die of starvation or thirst. What would you do to protect your family ? Anything ?! I know i would.. Perhaps thats also the reason why so many people want what we had. They saw it in the scraps of newspaper adds and other adds on tv and they and we wanted it. So if you have nothing at all, would you stand by and do nothing ? You have no job, because there arnt none. You have no money, you cant get food or water for your family or even housing. What would you do ? I think its great that people nowadays judge so easyly, but have you ever been on the other side looking in ? We throw so much usefull food away its a waste and in the meantime 1500 miles away people are dying of starvation. The thing is we throw this food away because there is a stamp on it from a company that wasnt to get sued if they acctually had some food that spoiled.

No it is not inevitable. Our system of capitalism depends on the people being necessarily moral to be fair and balanced. When we let morals go, that is when it all went to hell. Doesn't have to be that way.

I have a 125 pound mastiff. And a 110 pound rottweiler. Both follow me to the front door IF I open it, and neither care much at all for strangers. We never have any problems. Even solicitors and Mormons don't hang around very long.

The world has always been fucked one way or another. There's no perfect system. None.

It's just a matter of personal choice, and personally, I enjoy living here very much.

I open the door... I refuse to live in fear & come from small-town Texas & that's just how I roll. Besides, I'm just a friendly kinda guy.

I'll open the door if it is still daylight, after I've looked through the peephole to see who it is.

I don't open the door after sundown.

I can bark and growl like a big mean dog. I do that before I open the door, then I say "quiet" and "stay" as I open the door while looking behind the door.

Also note, you are not required to open the door to anyone. You are not required to speak to anyone. If the police come to the door, don't even speak up or open to them either, you're just asking for trouble the moment you answer, you are not required to answer or open the door for them. They only break into your home without a warrant if they know you're in there and start talking shit to them, that gives them the excuse to do it. As long as you don't speak up, they can only assume no one is home and leave. They can't break into a home with no one in it without a warrant.

I always thought that the americans front yards with no fence or wall, is a non very practical thing,
is a waste of usefull space, privacy, besides that a simple fence serves as a symbolic division between you property and the public space, before your door.
Also you can instal an intercom with cam in your gate, and problem solved.
