If we are to love our neighbor as our self, then why are we suppose to hate our ego?

Our ego is our closest neighbor but yet based on christian, and some new age stuff, teaching we are to hate and to try to kill our flesh, ego.

Doesn't make sense.

Shouldn't we love our ego, based on the love your neighbor as yourself teachings?

Even further, are we not suppose to love our neighbors which includes their ego? I don't recall the teaching saying love the spirit part of your neighbor. Why are we to hate our ego but love our neighbors ego?

Seriously, though, the ego longs for it's own absence. Basically, the ego is always searching for the path to "enlightenment" or "oneness". These things are unattainable. No thing can be something and nothing at the same time.

You can't be whole and unwhole at the same time. We embodie "beingness", therefore, we cannot be "oneness" and still "be".

Beingness is oneness. Everything in creation is 'being' at the same time. There is only one kind of being.
