I was in the exact same scenario when I was around 15 - got stuck all day hanging around church between morning and evening services along with my younger siblings, so we'd roam around, bored - my mom would bring lunch and we were left to occupy ourselves - we also went to evening service and before that my dad had choir practice. So, I ended up hanging around with this janitor guy that lived there on the premises - he was trying to pick up on me - I liked the attention - he was about the same age difference, or maybe a little less than the girl and the kidnapper in this case - and I was a nice church girl, didn't mess around like all trampy and stuff, but I was also a young teen and was flattered with the attention and he'd take us out to do stuff - I think he kissed me one time - but that was like 30 years ago and girls weren't just going around acting so trampy like they do now - and my parents certainly would NOT have ever been fine with any guy hanging with me like that, even my own age - that was the protective factor that Hannah seemed to lack. This guy couldn't get away with much and he cut it out after he met my folks a couple times - my dad was 6'3" and 225 lbs and nothing to joke about. I'm just sharing because it's not that unusual, in my opinion - and if they were in Iran/Iraq, etc. she'd already have been his wife by 12 and had his 4 children by 16! They start a lot earlier in many countries, not just Muslim ones, and the age difference thing happens, too - America is just a lot more strict about it - which is a good thing in most cases - don't get me wrong.
