No. Seriously, she could have thought he was the nice friendly uncle-figure, not expecting this to happen. Calling him for help. According to Hannah's aunt, the cat found in the wilderness with James and Hannah was DiMaggio's cat.

Her friends had her pegged prior to the murders. A couple of posts that Hannah made were quite disturbing. One person accused her of sleeping with her "Uncle" and she did not deny it and as a matter of fact, she seemed to address the post in a very nonchalant way. She was also bragging about sleeping with a black guy that she was posing with. She replied with a "Yup!" and gleefully talked about enjoying black men because she was attracted to them. Another post also stood out when she was riding in the car with DiMaggio to go on one of her many trips with him. It was something about a lot of sweaty bodies were around. She looked to be extremely excited and happy to be with him. The picture that she posted with the comment showed no signs of fear at all.

A spokesman for the family of James Lee DiMaggio said he believes the 40-year-old planned to kill Hannah Anderson and his cat had FBI agents not gunned him down in the Idaho wilderness.

In an interview with The Times, Andrew Spanswick said that upon learning of the eerie parallels between the violent, suicidal history of DiMaggio’s father and what transpired after Hannah’s alleged abduction in San Diego County, he had a “bone-chilling” realization.

For starters, the day DiMaggio’s campsite in Idaho was spotted from the air was the 18th anniversary of his father’s suicide. Hannah is 16 – the same age as a girl who, 24 years ago, spurned the attention of his father, prompting a violent breakdown, according to Spanswick and court records.

All of this was revealed to him by DiMaggio’s sister, Lora Robinson, on Friday, the day before the FBI tactical team moved in.

“When she told me the dates, I was like, ‘Oh my God,’” said Spanswick, who was authorized to speak on behalf of the family.

He called the FBI immediately to tell them he thought DiMaggio “was on the clock” and was about to do something drastic to coincide with the anniversary of his father's suicide.

He was a friend of the family, had known him for years. You people still are not looking at it properly. I'm sure every child sexually abused are also really the guilty ones, too, right?

The dudes attachment to the family seemed very odd and the fact that they let her travel to Hollywood with him alone says a lot. I don't believe for a minute that neither of her parents weren't aware of the relationship between those two.

This is exactly why Hannah will have a damned good defense IF charges are brought against her. Her behavior may just be a reflection of sexual abuse that began at a very young age by DiMaggio. It looks to me that the parents relied on this male friend to fill in the gap by being a substitute father figure at Hannah's father's request. This strange arrangement fostered a disaster just waiting to happen.

This is how I see it from what we know so far. I think DiMaggio was a person of low-average intelligence and maturity level (hence the attraction to a 16 year old). I think he was infatuated with a beautiful young girl who already quite skilled in the art of seduction. I think she was leading him around by his ________…I think they were romantically involved…I think it is possible they had discussed the murder well in advance of the execution. But I also think that 16 year olds thrive on drama, and can be very much out of touch with reality (especially in this day and age) and that it is possible that once the plan became a reality, Hannah could very well have been repulsed and traumatized by what happened. It is one thing to talk about it and plan it, and quite another to see it put into action. Hence the reason she could say he “got what he deserved”.

I think the fact that the dog was covered with a blanket indicates that someone at the scene had some feelings of tenderness for the animal. A cold blooded killer generally does not do things like that. A remorseful killer, or their accomplice, will.

Someone mentioned she reminded them of Casey Anthony and I was thinking the same thing. Her obsession with social media is one hallmark of a narcissist if not a sociopath. They love any attention, even negative. Casey actively poured over comments made about her on news sites and was also known to respond to some. It would not unusual for Hannah to be scoping out websites about her just to see what people are saying and what they think.

Okay, you're right.. can you tell I don't really follow current crime entertainment? ;D This was the first article I'd read on the case.. but that DNA test stood out as an odd detail.. now it certainly could be the case that it was a for fun Nat Geo find your percentage of this and that ancestry kit, but what if it wasn't.. who was testing who for what? Could Jim be Hannah's father?
