Video: Father and son found living in Vietnam jungle for past 40 years

The son does not speak, except for a few words of a local ethnic dialect. He was given a filtered cigarette but didn't like the taste, preferring his own homegrown and homemade.

Why do they need rescuing?

Agree.

I mean, I understand the old man might need care. It seems like the Son was healthy enough. If he can continue to construct his own shelter and farm then he would survive. If you take him out of his element, it would be very hard to adjust.

For such a hard life, the old man is just that, old. He didn't die of massive heart attack in his 50s, he didn't die from diabetes or cancer. And they live [according the 'experts'] a unhealthy 'lifestyle' right down to smoking unfiltered handrolled cigarettes. Go figure. Maybe the shit that we call food, and all the toxins in our environment, the toxic drugs we take, the stressful 'lifestyles' we live [keeping up with the Jones,etc.] are the causes of our 'advanced' first world physical and mental health problems.

They don't. The son I suppose would have a very rough time once his old father dies. But humans are very adaptable. I hope he does OK.
