This is the reason they are removing the Fuel Rods beginning in November, the operation will take a year so that's a whole year for something to go wrong during the operation... As long as this Earthquake doesn't hit before then that is!

From the article...

The operation is necessary, however, because the chance of Fukushima being hit by a magnitude 7.0 earthquake was estimated last year at 98 per cent within three years. And that, according to the experts, could cause the fuel pool structure to collapse and start another chain reaction.

The seriousness of the situation cannot be overstated. It is truly a global crisis. A host of observers have called for a team of the world’s top scientists to take over the entire clean-up, especially in light of Tepco’s miserable track record of missteps and misinformation.

This week, however, Japan’s nuclear regulator approved a plan for Tepco to carry out the clean-up, expected to take 40 years and cost billions that the company said it doesn’t have.

Didn't i read somewhere they have 470 of those rods to remove and they have been exposed or cooled by saltwater ..
They can't remove them by machine as the machinery was all damaged and the surrounding land aint safe so its all by hand .the radiation is a killer and people have to wear those suits whilst handling these rods , this could be a massive event in itself ... put an earthquake in the midst and Japan will be something we learn about in History and another chernobyl ..........

Yes a lot of people will die just doing this job, I can't imagine how difficult it will be for the workers and their families.

I think I remember that machinery can't operate in such a radioactive environment is the problem!
