For what's worth I measured the angles of the two glowing lines of the "wing" formation with a protractor, and they make an arch of 121.5 degrees.

I'm just assuming that it makes harder to be random "streaks of light".

 Quoting: Dr. Astro

Parallax or not parallax, still doesn't explain why NASA airbrushed the coma to hide that V shape structure, if it's nothing but an optical effect.

I'm assuming you won't make their same mistake and take us for granted, because the Hubble image viewer works with multiple-layer images of the same quadrant, what explains why the winged formation only appears after the image is darkened.

How come the coma totally fades away and all the noise and stars in the background dim, but your "parallax" doesn't fade and still glowing????

I don't trust Dr Astro for one main reason - not once have I seen where he questioned the official NASA story on anything. He may have at some point and I simply missed it but his undying loyalty to Never A Straight Answer is highly suspicious.

Learn what dynamic range is and the difference between a 32 bit image and an 8 bit display monitor. The web tool there is automatically guessing where to put the histogram levels and given that most targets are dim, it errs on the side of making things too bright. Get a real fits editor like pixinsight and download the raw data for yourself. The comet's nucleus was naturally one of the brightest parts of the image. It's not a conspiracy. They didn't actually over expose the individual shots, it's all there, but YouTube tards like the one in the op's video are not amateur astronomers equipped with proper software to handle high bit depth Hubble images, so they draw erroneous conclusions from web viewers.

Re: ISON COVER UP/May not be a Comet
It's five photos in my video, not three, and NASA did release a version that only used one photo for the comet, and parallax is involved. That's why the line of the comet is bent. Parallax occurs as Hubble moves in orbit, which is both during and between exposures. The direction of the parallax is inclined to the direction of the comet's motion, so as the parallax occurs in one direction the comet appears to slow down as the line of its apparent motion is deflected. This causes the appearance of a hairpin turn before the parallax starts to go the other way as Hubble rounds the earth passing its farthest south latitude and starts going north, causing the comet to be deflected the other way and accelerate. You spent a day on this but you didn't actually do any analysis of what Hubble should have seen from orbit by celestia or any other program?
 Quoting: Dr. Astro

You are using parallax in an obscure manner as i read it..
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 45259527

Oh well, too bad, that's what it is.
Parallax arises due to change in viewpoint but that can occur due to motion of the observer, or of that which is being observed, or of both. What is essential is relative motion. By observing parallax, measuring angles and using geometry, one can determine the distance to various objects.

The way I read your statements is that you seem to suggest the 'streaking effect' is the parallax effect when it is not, from what I can ascertain from reading about it, its the position of the comet in each frame that shows parallax. The shape is just the length of exposure... I am not sure if you are doing this on purpose or if its just the way you express yourself..
 Quoting: AC

Quit making this about "me." The position of the comet in each frame does show parallax, the linear motion of the comet is from its motion in space, but that motion is distorted by parallax, both deflected and retarded/accelerated at times.
The biggest question is why nasa felt the need to stack these photos (3 or 5) and present them as the 'finished product' when the one of the comet which forms the "centre" of the "boomerang" shape would of sufficed to produce a wonderful shot and not cause such an uproar..
 Quoting: AC

Well they did both. I don't like the full stacked version either but it is what it is. NASA didn't hire me to do it.
 Quoting: Dr. Astro

Maybe NASA should hire you! I try not to post bullshit and I try not to get mad when people run there holes even if I know what I post is true and they are wrong, But GLP is luckly to have you Dr. Astro, you don't bullshit around. But with all that said NASA does do some dumb shit, makes me think its just to get the people all fired up.

I did suggest which software to use. The monitor has no reasonable solution. You just have to find ways to deal with it when working with high bit depth images and be aware of the limitations and caveats of interpreting the data. Especially when trying to interpret 8 bit conversions from 32 bit data - that's just full of potholes and problems. Yet 8 bit data is necessary for display purposes, so you have to know how to work with both if you're going to be doing some sort of photometric analysis and then present your findings. Here, I'll add another suggestion; for photometry measurements I use imageJ - there's an astronomy version which works great and is free.

Well I certainly agree that these outlandish scenarios always end with "fail” and that the inability of an individual to employ logic is the reason behind this.

However, have a look around this place. Americans certainly don’t have a monopoly on stupid.

Fuck you Dr. Astro. I'm gay, and it isn't funny. I'm fine with gay jokes, hell gay people tell a lot of gay jokes. Disparaging gay people on the other hand, not so cool. Equating being gay with being a moran pisses me off, and while I may have been an AC when I did it, I've commented to you about this before when you've done the same thing in text.

So fuck off, I don't care how valid your information is, you always have to add in the ad hominem attacks, and you derail thread after thread. Thank the stars you're a member that I can Ignore. The only other person I've ignored is Brief, that says something.

Done. I know you don't care, that's quite evident.
