Re: Day 3 of drinking
What are you people doing? :(

My cousin has been an alcoholic since she was 15. She's now in her mid-30s. She's been hospitalized several times because of it, two of those times, she almost died. Surprisingly, none of those are her "rock bottom" yet.

She looks like an old lady, and her abdomen is now distended.

Nobody can be "happy" living like this.

No, they're in most cases self-medicating because they're damaged and deeply depressed with severe existential and/or psychological problems. And then the "cure" takes over and becomes worse than the initial problem, and ends up ruining their lives completely or killing them.

Re: Day 3 of drinking
It's my third day in a row of drinking and I am already in a progression of hopelesssness and loss of control. I do not doubt the fact that I am an alcoholic. I know this. I went to the store at 11am today and bought two bottles of whiskey. Yesterday I had bought one, and now today it is two. Tomorrow I will be back on the wagon and putting it down. As for today, I am getting drunk. Feel free to post comments of any kind, mean or positive. Thanks :)

A good way to stop is to ask yourself WHY you drink - and solve that!

Take it from someone who drank for 20 years and stopped instantly after facing my demons. Have not wanted alcohol since then.

The turning point for me was when I "draw a line in my life" on my left shoulder with ink. Closest to my heart. Just a black line on my upper arm. My only tattoo. Can't get away from it! I see it in the mirror every morning as a reminder. I can't drink or smoke it away.

I can no longer run away from my own promise to myself.

It helps me...... I look myself in the eyes every morning in front of the mirror and promise myself that "this is not gonna be the day I break my promise!"

But first you have to cork the bottle, eat some vegetables - and face your demons! No one can do it for you, so you better get up on your feet a be a man!!

My father used to say that the alternative is unacceptable.

It'll kill you! It's as simple as that.

Exactly. The first time my cousin was hospitalized and nearly dead, I thought she'd pull herself together, but nope. I don't know what her demons are. She had as perfect an upbringing as you can imagine. We're a small family, but a tight one. We've all tried to help. I just see her as nothing more than a selfish human being. I don't feel sorry for her. I don't even know if I care anymore. I feel sorry for my aunt/uncle and her siblings who have had to deal with this for years.

That shit is all poison. SO GLAD I QUIT! Sober for 10 years now and so freaking thankful every day. Just put it down. Get it out of the house. Don't hang with buddies that drink, don't hang with them at all for a while. Some will stay your friends and some you'll realize were just drinking buddies. I truly believe that God took the demon from me, and I do not test what would happen if I started again. I don't even think about it any more, it doesn't bother me to be around people who are drinking, but you need to distance yourself from places and people that encourage you to drink. You need to get your head clear so you can see what you are trying to medicate...and to see what blessings in your life you could LOSE if you keep it up. You can do it. I felt hopeless until I just DIDN'T DRINK one day. And the next, and the next...no AA for me, just simple not drinking. The freedom is fantastic!

And this is the type of ridiculous, infantile shit you need to avoid, OP. I believe that I, like a lot of people, am allergic to alcohol. So I don't drink. Just like people who are allergic to dairy don't drink milk. For me it isn't about strength or weakness at all, it's about my body chemistry.

i like drinking and smoking weed/kush

bud.before you sleep drink at least 1 litre of water

(i got that from the guilt trip movie)

[link to ca.answers.yahoo.com]
Just the one glass of water wont prevent the hangover the next day. Several glasses of water drunk throughout the night might help ease the symptoms of dehydration that drinkers get after a night of drinking alcohol. So try several glasses and a Barroccoa..vitamin B. Vitamin B helps rid the body of the toxins from the alcohol.

thats for a a glass of wine a day yoda

[link to www.liver.ca]

If there’s one thing that most people understand about the liver it’s that it serves as the body’s liquor control board. When you have a glass of wine, beer or other liquor, the liver is in charge of processing this alcohol and detoxifying the blood.

Yet breaking down alcohol is only one of the liver’s over 500 vital functions. This means it can only handle so much alcohol at once. If you overload your liver (drink too much at one time), the excess alcohol will end up circulating in your bloodstream affecting your brain, heart and other tissues resulting in you becoming increasingly intoxicated.

If you continue to drink excessively, either through binge drinking or by having multiple drinks on a daily basis, you’re making your liver work continuous overtime. The consequences of this abuse may be the destruction of liver cells, a build-up of fat deposits in your liver (fatty liver), or more seriously, liver inflammation (alcoholic hepatitis), permanent scarring (cirrhosis) or even liver cancer.

Talked to my sponsor. We both agreed that I need to get back into the swing of things and come on back. I know this. The temporary release of thoughts and feelings was nice, but I do not want to lose the life that I have today. School starts up on Thursday. Deans list here I come!!!

So who's supporting your slow suicide? People who consume bottles of liquor per day are not functional. Someone has to buy that bottle of booze, and you aren't getting paid to drink.

It's clear my comment hit a nerve with you. It's also clear that insight is the last thing you are seeking. You want people to tell you that you need to quit, to be strong, seek help, blah blah blah. Well I've dealt with a drunk like you. Watched them piss off, then piss away every single good thing in their life, then their life itself. You aren't some special snowflake who needs positive reinforcement. You are a coward. Nothing more.

AC 2389346- I am not a coward. I lived a sober life for two years and made a conscious decision to drink again. I can't stand people who live off of the government. I go to school full time and take out loans to do so. What I choose to do with that money is my own choice. Who are you to attack another individual? Grow up bro. Whether I drink or not, you still have no right to attack someone.

BE WISE and Don't drink. Drinking doesn't solve any problems. It only adds to them because when you sober up the problems are still there plus more........

You never did say what happened for you to stop drinking the first go around?

Maybe if you remember...you can recall why you stopped then and why you are on the path to nowhere.......now.
