Vegetarians almost have it right....
I agree with the concept that animals are to be treated with dignity and respect.

I believe that the mass production and slaughter of animals is inhumane and cruel.

However, being the health/fitness junkie that I am, I would be at a loss if animal protein was not a regular part of my diet. This is not up for debate, it is based purely off of my own experience, through trial and error, and research.

Even some meat eaters have it wrong. They think hunting a wild animal is cruel, yet they have no problem eating meat from the supermarket - not having a clue where it comes from, how the animals were treated, their diet, and the hormones they are injected with.

The worst part is the torment and fear that these slaughterhouse animals have to live in. The chickens grow so big, so fast, that their legs cannot support them and they can't walk, so they flop around on the ground. That's no life for any creature, whether they are being raised as food or otherwise.

My point is that too many people see eating meat vs not eating meat as a black and white issue.

If only we could treat every animal with respect and be thankful that they gave their life for our health and well being, as part of the circle of life.

Look to predators in the wild: when they are hungry, they hunt, eat, and that's the end of it. There's no torture, there's no steroids. The animals who get preyed upon get to live a natural life in the wild.

I've noticed that many vegetarians choose to be because they don't agree with how the animals are treated.

But I don't think that "not eating meat" is the best answer for mankind. If it works for you, then by all means, refrain from eating meat. I will not judge someone for making that choice. But I expect not to be judged for choosing to eat meat. My meat comes from humane and natural sources, and that includes when I eat out at a restaurant. I have my regular, local places to eat and I will never again touch fast food or supermarket meat. Watch any slaughterhouse video, and likely you'll feel the same way.

I work out a lot at the gym...

My diet - Lentils, Quinoa, Almonds, Hemp Seeds, Olive Oil, Grape seed Oil, Spinach, Tomatoes, Onions, Garlic, Butternut Squash, Rice.

Lentils + Quonia + Almonds + Hemp seeds = All protein you need

If you dont want to be vegan, you can also eat egg whites for protein and yogurt.

Its possible to work out regularly and be a vegan/vegeterian and be in great shape.

I'm sure I could lose weight and look OK if I ate a vegan/vegetarian diet.

But how much quinoa and lentals and hemp would I need to consume to get my 200g of protein daily?

I already struggle with getting enough protein, that I need to suppliment with whey protein on top of my meals.

I tried to go vegetarian for just over one week and I noticed an immediate reduction in my strength. suddenly I couldn't do a single chin-up, my deadlift dropped by almost 50lbs. I felt depleted and depressed, I even cried at the gym (just to show you how passionate I am lol).

The vast majority of bodybuilders who try vegan/vegetarian do not stick to it, because it didn't work. If it did, more people would be doing it.

If it works for you and your goals, then good for you. The nice thing about being human, is that we have the knowledge and freedom to choose.

Vegetarians are vile, soulless monsters, slaughtering plants to feed their gluttonous appetites.

That's why I devised my own Non-Killetarian diet of eating only fruits, nuts, milk, honey, and stone crab legs.

Re: Vegetarians almost have it right....
OP you're right, it is your choice. But I've done it both ways and here is what I found..

Building muscle while eating meat is much quicker. You rebuild faster, you have a faster energy boost....

Eating vegetarian is a more difficult regiment for working out as it will take a little longer to build.. but it builds better and lasts longer!

Vegan body builders always say getting to the point they want to get to is hard work but the muscle and strength stays longer...

Your choice, but meat is more of a crutch than you realize.

In other words, train your body to run on plants and if you ever do have meat, your body will treat it like rocket fuel and you'll get insane boosts.

You can't go the other way with a meat diet. Run your body on meet all the time and try to run on veggies and of course you're going to be sluggish.

It's not easy, but it pays off in the long run (if something happens to meat production you'll wish your body was built mostly from seeds, nuts and natural things, cause that's what you'll be foraging for!

Our brains evolved to grow on not only the proteins but the enzymes you can only get from meat.
Humans went from herbivores to omnivores in a very short period.
You can replace/substitute the protein but you can't replace/substitute the enzymes.
There is nothing wrong with being Vegan if your body and mind can handle it.
The only meat I eat is from game I take myself or the occasional beef I get from a local farmer in trade for a turkey or some other game bird.
The mass slaughtered beef and bird are shit and full of stuff you wouldn't feed your worst enemies dog.

I whole heartedly agree with this statement. We raise veg in our 12 raised beds, started from seed in our greenhouse. I can like a mad woman and dehydrate as well. We raise chickens and rabbits for meat, eggs, and fertilizer in the garden. We source our meat, dairy, from responsible farmers and other sources. We also hunt game and fish as well as harvest nuts and fruit from orchards during the appropriate times.

I've tried (as with the fam), to go full veg. It just depleats us way to much. It's all about balance, and choosing the correct foods to consume. Eating like we did 150 years ago.

Watch the movie "Forks over Knives" or "The Engine 2 Kitchen Rescue" (Written by a firefighter)

Eating too much meat can cause a variety of health problems
etc. You can still get plenty of protein without eating fatty meat.
