Honestly this is how you should have handled it. Reverse the entire scenario:

"You want to come in and measure my house? Okay...but before I let you in; I need your valid government worker credentials, your drivers license, a copy of your medical insurance card and a fee of $100 for crossing our doors threshold. Also, I need a utility bill so I can verify your name with your correct address...unfortunately your address on your driver license just won't do."

I live in an affluent neighborhood and have received many letters regarding this "voluntary census". The census worker has also left behind 3 notes to my door over the past 2 weeks when I wasn't home.

The current administration is convinced that not only should wealth be redistributed, but also communities. READ UP

She said may I come in, I need to measure your home and ask you and your family a set of detailed questions...for HUD...it will only take 45 minutes to an hour!

I politely told her that no, she could not come in, and also reminded her it was dinner hour.

I also said I decline to answer any questions and asked her how she got in through the gate to the community..it appears these workers have been given all the codes issued to LEO and the Fire Dept.

She asked me why I wouldn't help HUD gather necessary data, and I replied that the data she was seeking was not necessary, but rather, an intrusion on the privacy of all Americans. I also reminded her that I helped pay her salary...she was not pleased.

She stayed at the curb for 10 minutes typing into her laptop...

I guess I can now expect a letter from the IRS and NSA monitoring.

You are screwed. She will pester you until the end of time. This happened to me. You will get a letter stating that it is the law that you comply yet they are vague as to what will happen if you don't. She will call you, they have your number. They can and will show up at your place of business. They get a commission for each successful entry so she will get her stats one way or another. Although if it drags on, they will do the "short version" over the phone. One time, when I didnt answer the door on time, lol, she mentioned that my car was in the carport so she knew I was home, lol. Creepy woman...

So you eventually did a phone interview but didn't let them in your home? Did you ask why they didn't just get the info off county records?

The current people in power do not think it is fair that some people live in gated communities, while some live in slums.

They do not think it is fair that some people have six enable iras,
While others have none.

Single Parent

I don't care what the say just tell them this and make sure they write it down.
