When my oldest daughter brings her dog over to stay with me, he only get's human food. My husband saves scraps of meat for him in the freezer. When you find a piece of shit along side the road and you poke it with a stick, what do you expect to find inside of it, gold? No, it's just going to stink more. |

I found it in a reccomendation in a holistic vetinarians book who reccomends it for homecooked diets. Its really easy to figure out how much to use. It ensures they are getting all the trace minerals, calcium, magnesium, potassium for home cooked diets. I use it for my dog and it works great. It will make the home cooked diet complete for a dog. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 41746819 [link to www.amazon.com] Good advice. Some sort of supplement is needed. I use one for a cat. Unless of course you provide the whole carcass. |

She is ALIVE! My goodness. It is a miracle. After reading the dog food recall threads, I decided to share my food with her. Quoting: Ms. Superduper Also, I made up a huge batch of real beef, kind of like you would make a meatloaf and with some carrots and stuff in it. I then put it in my food processor to make it better chewing for her. She is a little older, was a rescue and missing some toofies. I also froze some in baggie for future eating. She is much more alert and happier. Before she was lethargic and just wanted to laze around and sleep. She is so MUCH DIFFERENT NOW. Thanks. I love my dog. :purdy: Gratz. I also put my puppy on a different type of food, but I went for local kibble after looking at many choices. I used to cook meat, rice and veggies for my poodle but it was very time consuming. He was doing very poorly on kibble as a puppy and was severely underweight, so the vet suggested it was our only alternative to cook for him. He went on to be of normal weight. :))) I'm really glad your dog is healthier. |

Commercially prepared food products for pets not suitable of a healthy life. They are devoid of any nutrition and will cause great health risks to your loved ones. I feed my dogs twice a day with fruit, veggies, a protein and a small amount of starch. I had a horrible experience last friday morning due to a family member sneaking "MarroBone" treats to my canines; and at 7 AM my dame was crying, could not move. Well after a lengthly visit to the Emergency Vet Hospital and a $300+charge; it turns out that the treats where the culprit of her gastrointestinal "distress"! So please do not feed your dogs/pets ANY commercially prepared pet Food/Treat especially "MarroBone" trash. |

She get all the left-overs, scraps, or whatevers left on top of the trash(that bitch).. She's always got dry food, she'll crunch away on it sometimes.. She's damn picky about her dry though, she only eats certain colors, or shapes.. And she will only eat half the bowl, you have to spin it, or she won't eat it.. She's weird.. |

They have never been recalled and they are made in the U.S. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 44121671 My dog can't chew something that hard you know. I found a recipe using peanut butter and basically wheat flour for something different for her as a snack but they don't hold up well really. She also loves some cheese sharing with me and gets the little meat pieces out of my cobb salad, i.e. Boars Head turkey and bacon pieces. She even knows the box it comes in and she steps right up for that time. I've been introducing some bean types to her with rice. Loves it. And also carrots, green beans and the like. I know I sound like some crazy loon doing all of this for a dog but that's just the way it is. Heh. After having my last dog and losing him for some "unknown" reason, I am being more mindful of things. I had my large male cocker for 15 years and he too was 'inherited' so I didn't know his exact age. I guess that was a good amount of time for a dog, no? It's just that when he went, all of his organs had shut down finally. I really don't like to think about that too much but try to learn from it. Oh yea, I gave him dog food, any dog food and I always wondered if that killed him or if it was all of the chemicals from numerous shots the vet wanted to give him ($$). Our St Bernard had repeated ear issues since we brought him down to Bama from Wyoming. Took us awhile to figure out what the source was. He would shake his head so violently it would knock him down. We started making our dogs biscuits and the problems were gone entirely in 3 days. We feed them people meat, none of the canned poison, never have. Easy to make biscuits.... 1 lb bag of brown rice ground into flour in food processor 1/4 jar of peanut butter 2 big tbspn raw honey 1 egg 1/4 cup oil enough water to make it like sugar cookie dough make logs, cut into shapes, whatever you want to do and then bake for 20-30 minutes depending on how hard you want them. simple, cheap, quick and 20 less ingredients then store bones. Takes about $3 and 10 minutes of prep time. |
