While the ruling is completely unconstitutional, these cases continue to baffle me.
Why don't people just say they're booked or otherwise unable to work the event??

I never thought I would live to see the day that my youth pastor was right so long ago in 1975. And it's going to get worse. Soon teaching that homosexuality is a sin in church will be hate speech. And all the state-controlled 501(c)3 Churches will roll over on their backs and do what they are told. I'm a Christian and I completely agree with you. However, we are told to be wise a serpents along with as bold as lions. I believe, particularly these days, that declining the event by saying you are booked is a very valid way to handle these situations.
