Syrian Arab News Agency State News Website is Down
sana.sy/index_eng.html‎

I'm not sure if it really means anything but it definitely does not give me a warm cozy feeling. I figured with everything going on I would check out their news site and see what was being said. I have tried several times connecting and it times out every time. I'm not really computer savvy, so I'm not sure what that means. Just figured I would give everyone a heads up!

I really don't think this is a good sign. Although it is state ran, maybe they took it down themselves for some reason?

The final death toll will be in the thousands from the attack. Someone is going to pay for this. That's the energy that is building up. And it didn't have to get to this point - and the one holding all the cards that allowed it to get to this point by not stepping aside and calming the waters? The weasel Assad.

Him stepping aside would have done what exactly? I'm not criticizing your opinion BTW, I just believe that they have us "simple" folk, lost in a never ending sea of propaganda. So much so, that we never really have even a remote understanding of what is actually going on. Who is really funding this, and why does anyone besides native Syrians have a right to say what happens in their country?

I may have found the reason for the website being down.

Turkish hackers attack websites of several Syrian state agencies

Turkish hackers attacked the official news website of Syria - Sana the night before as a sign of protest against the use of chemical weapon in Syria, as a result of which over 600 people were killed, Sabah newspaper reported on Saturday.

See my post above yours. Apparently, some Turkish hackers took it down, along with a lot of other state websites including their emergency alert system.

I saw it...but what I am saying is there are plenty of means via satellite to get the word out.

When I meant something happening I meant the US hitting C&C, communications etc.

Yeah, I understand. Actually I was agreeing with you and pointing out that it was down because of hackers, not because of communications being taken out, which was my fear when I posted the thread.

It sounds like Iran is giving the "green light"

“Many of the innocent people of Syria have been injured and martyred by chemical agents and this is unfortunate,” recently elected Rouhani was quoted as saying by the ISNA news agency.

“We completely and strongly condemn the use of chemical weapons,” he said, according to the agency.

“The Islamic Republic gives notice to the international community to use all its might to prevent the use of these weapons anywhere in the world, especially in Syria,” he added, according to the Mehr news agency.

With all the propaganda flying around, we can't really be sure of much of anything. I do think that we would have heard something by now if something had happened though.

I think it's helpful to view Syria and everything else happening on this planet - and off - in terms of the upheaval and transfomation taking place to better understand how to navigate and make life a bit easier on everyone experiencing it. Of course, this all extends far beyond the human realm, but that's besides the point. In just the human realm, people all around the world are in a state of deep disturbance. Doesn't matter where, everyone is caught up in the same 'wave', so to speak. The governments and leaders of the world, charged with managing the populations on this planet, have a responsibility to do just that - manage - which often means that in order to calm the 'human waves', 'regime change of managers' must take place.

This is not an easy thing for people who cling to their position at all costs. Assad is one of those types, amongst many others.

He had two choices when he saw the region's people's in open revolt disturbances - he could either plan to step aside to minimize damage to the population and another government would assume duty. He wasn't stupid. He knew very well he was a minority representative (Alawite) ruling over a majority population (Sunni) that was increasingly wanting their own leaders from their own community.

Or...he could do what he has done which is to maintain and strengthen the wave building against him - drawing in people from everywhere - and essentially enabling the conditions where the mass slaughter of everyone continues unchecked.

So, from this perspective, Assad and his governmental regime are the obstacles in the way of calming the waters. He's going to be gone one way or the other and its all coming to a head.
