I didn't want you thinking people were ignoring the subject, although there aren't many people talking on the other thread, either. Mr Snowden’s leaks have embarrassed the United States by exposing the global extent of its surveillance programmes. Washington has said its spies operate within the law and that the leaks have damaged national security. A week ago Britain detained the partner of a Brazil-based journalist working for the Guardian newspaper who has led coverage of Snowden’s leaks. British police said documents seized from David Miranda were “highly sensitive” and could put lives at risk if disclosed. We need other countries to have people defect and disclose THEIR intelligence techniques. Surely nobody expected privacy from US surveillance, sitting in Manhattan between 1st Avenue and the East River. Heck the Europeans even have their own UN location in Geneva, and I'd suppose the EU knows what's going on in there. |

Hence would not the UN, a group of all countries, not be a logical target for such listening devices? Not saying it is right. Then again, as the UN, they should not really care about them being bugged. If they do their work, per their charter, then they should have absolutely NOTHING to hide, from anyone.
