The email reads as follows: Phil, we’ve got a new offer. It’s about Syria again. Qataris propose an attractive deal and swear that the idea is approved in Washington. We’ll have to deliver a CW to Homs, a Soviet origin g-shell [sic] from Libya similar to those that Assad should have. They want us to deploy our Ukrainian personnel that should speak Russian and make a video record. Frankly, I don’t think it is a good idea but the sums proposed are enormous. Your opinion? No pictures or any other evidence. It was posted in February. That alone is interesting yet it still, no evidence that this email ever existed. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21517034 I read the same article. What in it is conclusive of this happening? |

Warfare is truly loosing it's appeal when it deals with physical/conventional fighting. the whole "beans and bullets" mentality is switching over to "Bits and Data". it's amazing that individuals such as Hackers (regardless their hat color) are skilled enough to infiltrate, capture and flee with real world history/act's in the form of data. If the article is true, truth and "spoils of war" are now able to flip entire nation on tilt, and spark reaction in the public mass. lol, I always think back to "Cyberpunk" flicks which were done in the 80's and 90's that depicted this style of future warfare. What's that famous saying by Mr.Clarke? "Advanced technology will appear as if it is magic"??? my wording/quote may be off, but I think I captured the basics of it. |

There's a forensic analysis online that suggests the email was not real but 'planted' when the hackers had access. The email said Phil Quoting: emailWe've got a new offer. It's about Syria again. SheldonReturns User ID: 41940058 United Kingdom 08/26/2013 06:14 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | An article on 29 January reported allegations on the internet that the US Government had backed a plot to launch a chemicals weapons attack in Syria and blame it on the Assad regime. The reports made reference to an email said to have been from David Goulding, the Business Development Director of Britam Defence, to company founder, Philip Doughty. The email had been published on the internet after Britam’s computer system was illegally hacked in Singapore. It referred to a proposal that Britam would deliver chemical weapons to Syria for enormous financial reward and suggested that the directors were willing to consider the illegal proposal. We now accept that email was fabricated and acknowledge there is no truth in any suggestion that Britam or its directors were willing to consider taking part in such a plot, which may have led to an atrocity. We apologise to each of them and have agreed to pay substantial damages. |

Carla Del Ponte of UN weapons inspector fame said that the earlier attacks were carried out by the 'opposition' not the government. So the method described in the email may have been of but the tactic is proven to be one employed by the 'rebels'. Not a huge surprise given that they seized loads of CW in Libya.
