Iran warns west against military intervention in Syria

"Make no mistake," Kerry said. "President Obama believes there must be accountability for those who would use the world's most heinous weapon against the world's most vulnerable people. Nothing today is more serious, and nothing is receiving more serious scrutiny".

Iranian foreign ministry spokesman, Abbas Araqchi, indicated it was equally resolved to defend Assad.

"We want to strongly warn against any military attack in Syria. There will definitely be perilous consequences for the region," Araqchi told a news conference. "These complications and consequences will not be restricted to Syria. It will engulf the whole region."

Shi'ite Iran is Syria's closest ally and has accused an alliance of militant Sunni Islamists, Israel and western powers of trying to use the conflict to take over the region.

The Guardian article is good- in my college English class we covered Weasel words in advertising. "Virtually" is an example of a weasel word. It holds no responsibility should the claim be false. This is a perfect example of weasel wording in the article:

"And there is very little doubt in our minds that the Syrian regime is culpable [of the use of chemical weapons]." -Jay Carney

Its also "in our minds." Well how about real world evidence?

I fail to see the difference between this alleged use of chemical weapons by Assad and Obama authorizing the deaths of hundreds if not thousands of innocents to kill a few alleged terrorists.

Both are heinous attacks the difference being one is alleged and the other a fact.

Oil jumps as Syria conflict heats up.


Once again, a Middle East conflict is pushing oil prices higher.
Oil prices rose more than 2% Tuesday, as the U.S. government and its allies consider a military strike on Syria following the country's suspected use of chemical weapons.

The conflict has left investors reeling, with global stocks selling off and investors rushing to safer havens, such as Treasuries, which are backed by the U.S. government.
"In a world when you don't know what to do, you buy government bonds," said Steen Jakobsen, chief investment officer at Saxo Bank.
Even gold, which had been maligned by investors, is spiking. The precious metal, also considered a safe haven in times of geopolitical turmoil, is back above $1,400 an ounce for the first time since early June.

False flag on a US Ship (similar to the Cole) blamed on Assad. The chemical weapons thing is unraveling, WND, Drudge, and the rest are reporting it was the rebels that used chemicals and we are not buying Kerry's story...they MUST up the ante. An attack on a US Navy ship would do it...

I'm thinking that this whole situation is going to get ugly. More death and suffering, all in the name of progress. All in the name of money and power.
