Anybody Here Deal With Panic Attacks/Severe Anxiety??
I was in class today for first day of school and teacher told every student to introduce themselves.......my heart started racing like crazy and I don't know why. Crazy anxiety the whole time....was even about to run out of class before my turn lol. Been dealing with it my whole life and come to realize its a part of who I am. Anyone else here deal with it as well? And if so how do you guys cope with it during these type of situations?

Yes. I stay pretty stressed out nowadays but I've got a lot going on.. I've recently became paralyzed so that keeps me pretty stressed and have occasional panic attacks.

I am close to someone that has very bad panic attacks, the first thing you may want to look into is make sure your breathing is correct, when they occur. Most people that get panic attacks start to breath very shallow and it messes them all up and gives them the really bad symptoms. You can look up the breathing exercises on line. I personally like teas that are calming to sleep, but not sure if they would work for a panic attack, i heard they can.

OP, I know you you feel. I'm so sorry you're going through that. Been suffering from it myself for a while. I recently went on beta blockers, and it literally stopped it completely, even to where I can now get up in front of people and give a performance. BUT it made a lot of my hair fall out. So now, I have stopped it for all but maybe two times a week. I am pissed now, and that what it takes, to get angry at this condition and how it's affected your life. I sure know it's affected mine. I was a no-show for the 9th grade cheerleader tryouts at my high school because I panicked at the thought of performing in front of a gymnasium of nearly 4,000 students. We had a huge high school. That event I believe altered my life in a significant way. Had I tried out and made that team, which I know I would have, I would not be where I am today.

Anyway, sorry, long story, and I could ramble on about this and how awful it is, but I'm going to try to find something natural. I have begun to take ONE very short bong hit in the mornings to see if that will help, but in my profession I absolutely cannot show up looking stoned, or I'm out of a job. I hope you, too, can fight this. Godspeed!

Stop eating so much meat and fat!

Eat more starches and you see a HUGE difference within a day or so, keep eating lots of starches minus the fat and you'll leave your panic in the dust!

Lots and lots of potatoes! Tons of vegetables! Some fruit.
RICE! some pasta, some bread.
CEREAL! OATMEAL! POTATOES! No oil, no butter, no dairy!
MORE VEGETABLES!

God gives you the easy way out, but you must choose of your own free will!

You can do this!!!!

Just do it.

I look like the most relaxed, chilled person in the world. Looks are very deceiving, since I can look like that and be dying of anxiety.
I know how you feel.
Cold hands, feet, dizzy, can't breathe, feel like I'm going to drop dead. Yep
SPEAK UP. SILENCE IS DEADLY!

I am currently experiencing life at several WTFs per hour.

Sorry to hear about your panic attacks , my wife started suffering panic attacks several years ago , she coped for a while then sort some medical advice.
The doc prescribed some tablets, cannot remember the type , but within 20 minutes of taking them she could not walk , uncontrollable hand shakes and she was in a permanent state of panic attack .It took 3 years to get back to nearly normal , she was manager of a well know fashion outlet , now she cannot handle any pressure at all.
I would not want any body to experience our plight, if you seek a medical opinion at some point to help manage the anxiety just be aware that the prescribed medication can have far worse side effects .

note. and of course soon as you say it was the medication every medical body closes the doors on you , your a liability!

oh, I wrote and it was dead link and I have to type again!

what I was saying is that this was exact type of attack I had at school. but I flew away from china across the ocean and surrounded myself with many wonderful people.

now i am back to the enviornment and from time to time, it just triggers, I haven't got exactly how these trigger worked but if trying to remember the nice people, my mind seem to be able to focus again.

gradually increase the level of pressure according to oneself maybe helped.

Make sure you go to a psycohology first and address the issues before taking medications but Xanax helps most of everyone although it can be addictive and cause another problem...

Propranolol is a sympatholytic non-selective beta blocker. Sympatholytics are used to treat hypertension, anxiety and panic.
Propranolol is often used by musicians and other performers to prevent stage fright. It has been taken by surgeons to reduce their own innate hand tremors during surgery.[11]
Propranolol is currently being investigated as a potential treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder.
Propranolol reduces the effects of nightmare-related cardiac activity.
Oxford researcher Sylvia Terbeck gave volunteers the beta-blocker propranolol. The volunteers scored lower on a range of psychological tests designed to reveal any racist attitudes than a group who took a placebo.[23] The region of the brain called the amygdala is involved in processing emotion, including fear, and many psychologists think racist feelings are driven by the fear center. Propranolol inhibits the amygdala.
Ethical and legal questions have been raised surrounding the use of Propranolol-based medications for use as a "memory dampener," including: altering (memory-recalled) evidence during an investigation, modifying behavioral response to past (albeit traumatic) experiences
, the regulation of these drugs, and others.

No, your panic attack may felt like a heart attack. But every panic attack from different individual manifest symptom differently. I've met with those with panic attack exhibiting high blood pressure symptom of tightening neck. When I was deep in the panic attack hell years ago, mine started with abdominal cram to the point of pain and then the eyesight darken like I was gonna pass out. It's scary cause all who've experienced panic attack knew it felt like we're dying.

At that time, my only magical solution was half or a quarter pill of Xanax which will rapidly stop the panic attacks in mostly seconds. Although Xanax helped, I abhorred having to carry it all the time and was questioning when will this unexpected and random panic attack that can happen anywhere will ever stop.

So, after physical checkup where everything is normal according to the doctor, and after much studying of the nature of panic attack, I concluded it was created by my mind. Realizing that this was caused by my mind, knowing that it's not dangerous as I have believed it to be, I decided to fight the panic attack by delaying the taking of Xanax. So when the panic attack came, I kept breathing deeply and told to the panic attack that I did not fear it at all. In my heart, I told the panic attack "I reject you". And when the panic attack gradually subsided without me taking any Xanax, I reached enlightenment, ascended master of panic attack, lol. It's true, I realized the panic attack can do nothing to me, and that's my last panic attack, bye bye to one year in hell. Though still worry, I still carried Xanax for a while until a few weeks when I was very confidence the panic attack will never attack again. So, I hope all of you can also stop your panic attack forever.

So looking back at my experience, I can conclude that our experiences changed when our belief about the experience changed. When I realized the panic attack was not the monster I thought it was, the panic attack has no more reason to exist in my experience. When I stopped giving the panic attack an attribute of a for life incurable disease, and identified it as the creation of my fearful mind which meant I was a total moron creating hell for myself, I started cursing my moron self :-) instead of having another panic attack.

I am in the same boat.

Citalopram since @ 1 year now.

Cannot take stronger stuff, as software designer you need to stay switched on.

80 hour working week does not help either.

Was made Operations manager when it all started.

Was told to do more fitness.

With 56, I do a half marathon and have a six pack some younger guys would be proud off.

Only person to benefit from the Citalopram is my wife, it appears.

Citalopram is known to delay the climax in man by about 30 min. shark
