I see it more like.... WW3 was marked by the total tasteless, brainless, garbage... exploited youth, etc., etc.
Everything that Miley's performance embodies; filth, degeneration, mindlessness, pop-culture, empty, etc., is just the perfect and ironic setting/backdrop for WW3 to start.
It's like we're in a movie. The entertainment reflects the theme of the movie.
