I belonged to a blue lodge. I was a Master Mason. It's really sort of hokey and overrated. I was working on the Scottish Rite degrees, and found it to be sort of like Amway.
Honestly, if they control the World, worship satan, or eat newborns from Zimbabwe, I never saw it.
It's not really a cult. It's more like an insurance meeting with rituals.

Those shriners make me giggle everytime I see them hauling ass around a local parade with their Fez tails billowing in the wind. :) The theory goes that most lodges are set up this way, and that only a handful are really into the other side of things, with only a few members of said lodges actually in practice. Did any of the rituals strike you as odd; were you at all aware of the rumors around Masons at the time?
