I visited New Madrid, MO yesterday, have some observations and questions.
I was ending a road trip today, leaving the Reelfoot Lake area (beautiful Cypress trees!), driving through New Madrid, MO, and going home. We noticed in New Madrid, there was a huge government/white trucks presence. There were four white government trucks near the water tower, looked like they were surveying with radio antennas. On the side of their truck, it read "Radio Frequency" Is this normal for the area?

We went towards the Bend (the overlook near the museum, near the famed "New Madrid Bubble") Underneath the overlook was a city truck, taking pictures from across the way. I was listening to just when they drove up, talking about the sand boils were bigger than usual. He took pictures with his cell phone. Are sand boils normal in this area? Maybe it was much ado about nothing....

The area is very sandy, too, and lots of cars have sand on them.

All and all, a VERY interesting place to visit.

Do residents from New Madrid (or area) comment on this page?

They are monitoring the fault line. There's a lot of sand around there in the soil. They wouldn't be there if there wasn't something going on. Good observation OP!
I'd like to see Reelfoot some day before it gets swallowed up by the Mississippi again. :)

Reelfoot Lake is quite beautiful, only got to drive around it, walked on one of the boardwalks. Lots of wildlife to be seen.

Yeah, we noticed lots of sand piles. I was trying to listen to the guy talk, but only got little bits of pieces.

Across the street from the water tower, they had a tripod radio antenna, too. Not sure if just surveying, or other things.

Just talking about my road trip, and I forgot one thing. We counted 50-60 dead armadillos from Cape G to just before you get to flat lands north of New Madrid, MO.

We were driving south on 1-55, is this normal? Is it their mating season maybe?

This has nothing to do with any EQ recently. I am just interested in the area in a historic aspect, too.

All this from a guy who creates a thread:

So I was shaving my asshole......
and I took a nick out of the fleshy bunghole part. I slipped. Hurts like hell and I am afraid to go #2.

I have a very powerful Sphincter, that shit is now on lock down.
