Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29308957 ^This^ Tell them neighborhood kids have been stealing your mail. If its "required" then they should be able to show you a copy of the law stating same. A story on it: [link to m.nbc12.com] The "official" page for filling out the form's answers: [link to www.census.gov] Last Edited by eV3y on 08/30/2013 05:36 PM *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* I can't force people to accept the truth, but I can expose them to it. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 46015192 Received survey instructions had to do this on-line through official government site. This was no survey, I had to list everyone who lives at my home, name, age, birth dates, incomes, mortgage payment, insurance info, work place, how long it takes me to get to work how I got there and what time I leave, how many hours I work and much more personal info in which it's non of their damn business. Needless to say I was shocked to see on the envelope "Your Response Is Required By Law" WTF!!!! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 29308957 Be careful though, courts will assume that you've received it if the sender can verify they sent it through US mail. It would then become your burden to prove you didn't get it. Kind of backwards I know, but I've personally seen this in court. Saying you didn't get it is not a sufficient defense. |

For the rest of EACH QUESTION, say, "I cite my 4th and 5th amendment rights". Do the same for the extra household member section that probably has to fill it out too. Leave nothing blank. Zero personal info. Send it back filled out. (as is without any embellishment). |

(Mom used to work for them eons ago) This extended questionnaire is nothing new. It is sent at random. I am unaware of anyone ever being prosecuted for non compliance, even though there is that reference to it. They might follow up with a phone call saying they have not received your response. That might be the time to say you have no recollection of receiving anything like that in the mail. |

Threw it away and never heard anything more. Others have said that if you don't fill it out you will get a visit from a census employee to "help" you fill it out, I never did. Just throw it away, and be sure you know who is at the door before you answer it. You won't go to jail. |

I have filled out forms before but on paper only and mailed it back. The first letter I received said this survey will help schools, highways and basically the community where I live. So I logged into the website they gave me a code in which directed me to my address. From there they knew I received the letter I had to finish it which took close to 2 hours to complete. Imho this survey has nothing to do with improvements to my community. Just giving a heads up to anyone else who may receive this. |

It is my opinion that the US Census Bureau just had to make up work to justify their existence. Again, more than 30 years ago, before computers and Google maps, Mom would get these random assignments to drive out into the farm land or rural areas and make crude maps of the dirt roads and confirm that there were "Dwellings" on those roads. She loved it as it paid well and was a nice day in the country. This was so long ago that no one was afraid to do this nor did she ever meet with anyone who questioned her presence. |
