I was In school during the whole Libya invasion and murder of gadaffi. No oneknew what was going on, it wasnt big talk. My relatives didn't know much, if anything, about POS obamas non-congressional breach of power. Syria, however, is big talk. My dumbo sis even knows what's going on. This is a pretty big step to take, and people realize the calamity of any big chess moves towards war. His handlers, therefore, realize that we won't be so easily duped this time around. So now, he is playing his part as instructed to "consider" congressional approval. He IS a piece of shit, but why focus on the puppet? His CFR "pals" arent taking any blame. You call him a leader? Leader of what, exactly? He's got strings attached; he FOLLOWS AND TAKES ORDERS.

I think he blinked.Obama felt the pressure from the murmurs in the crowd about another red line coming and going without action being taken by him. With this he rushed into it and basically publicly committed himself to a attack on Syria before realizing what he was up against.9% approval for Syrian aggression at home,England bailing on him and Russia warning him in no uncertain terms there will be consequences if he attacks. He has an agenda at home that we`re all too keenly aware of,and if his approval rating slips much more that agenda will become increasingly difficult to bring about. I think it all plays in.

America is the last Earthly power with the 'police force' able to intervene on the planet. Everyone else on the planet is now so degraded, self-absorbed, and selfish that they wouldn't lift a finger to help anyone, anywhere. For all that's wrong with America, Americans have historically shown themselves to be the most generous, caring, and ready to help. It's called taking the responsibility of managing the planet seriously.

Now, Americans are becoming just like the rest of the world in their degradation and selfishness.

This vote on whether to intervene in Syria or not will not determine the fate of the rest of the world as well as America since that fate is a natural process that cannot be changed.

However, to vote no is to absolve one of the God-given responsibility for managing the affairs of this planet and to place one's self firmly in the camp of extinction and elimination as the 'higher power' steps in to do the job man was incapable of doing. Accountability. Choose your fate.

Very important words, and I agree in concept. Sadly, our use of force does not seem to match our longer term interests.
By all means use force when needed-just make sure that the results are worth fighting for.

In Syria,we get a brand new base of operations of an extremist terrorist group. Is that in our best interest?

I think the attack will go forward without congressional approval.

I think this whole speech was a stunt to make it appear that he is going for congressional approval even though he said he did not need it.

Be on guard for a false flag event that will result in an immediate attack.

I expect an attack on Syria by Obama it any time...even tonight.

Re: Obama blinked!
Obama put himself and consequently the rest of the USA in a bad position because of his stupid "Red Line" statement and then doing nothing about it the first time.

That being said since Britain backed out he was left with few options.
I personally think that he did the right thing by delaying a strike at this time.
Why???
Because the strikes he was going to use would have been a joke. The enemy has moved the critical items already to a safer place.
By waiting AND bringing the Congress in, he get's himself off the hook.
Now no matter how it goes he can blame Congress.
Obama is a LEAD FROM BEHIND guy.
He can NOT and WILL NOT go it alone and take all responsibility on his own shoulders.
Sad excuse for a President... but in this case I think he made the right decision.

 Quoting: Dervish

Not necessarily. The jihadists have only one purpose due to their nature - and that is to destroy. They cannot build or create anything. In this sense, Assad is doing the right thing by trying to protect the house from being destroyed. However, he has also failed as a head of the household by only viewing himself, Syria, and his position in isolation.

The longer that he refused outside help and intervention to calm the waters - he is, afterall, a minority leader in a place where the majority people wanted - and want - one of their own - at the head - the worse things got there. The people wanted the opportunity to choose their leadership.

In a straight up election free of the obstacles he has placed for open participation of all parties, he would lose. He dragged his feet, made excuses, and then this called forth the jihadist destroyers to flood in from everywhere after the first year of relatively peaceful protests.

Many helped the jihadist beasts in - and they will have to answer for that criminal activity. This isn't about them, though. They're already on a drone hit list.

However, the jihadists will not 'take over' as they are incapable of that as it is. The civil war in Syria, if left unchecked, will spill far beyond Syria as it already is starting to - Iraq is in flames again, spreading to Lebanon, building in Egpyt, and could get going in Jordan, Turkey, and into the Gulf states too. Even Iran may go up in flames from internal tensions the longer things go.

The tensions are already there.

In principle, it's easy to support Assad's position due to the terrorism issue and the inherent belief of most that the are kings in their own castle and no one can interfere in their home life no matter what they're doing or the conditions inside the house.

The reality, however, is that no nation is sovereign unto itself and one can't expect to be able to hold the position of 'what goes on in my house is my business only' and remain for long. In fact, America's possible intervention is not a sovereign act of a rogue state, though many will surely view it that way due to their selfish and limited view of how the real world works beyond their own noses - but an act on behalf of a world that has eschewed and refused its responsibility - and is falling apart quickly as a result.

Syria is in ruins and all the destructive forces concentrated there will spread if the Assad obstacle to letting the tide calm down a bit isn't dealt with.

Sure, it will be a battle for balance and stability to return so the area can be rebuilt - but to do nothing is to consign everyone to a type of shameful death where no one did a thing to at least try to stop it.

Police don't step in to stop civil, domestic disputes with the belief that this will end all civil, domestic disputes. It may make it worse for those in dispute, of course.

To do nothing, though, is to consign everyone to the same fate as it spills out into the neighborhood unchecked.

The only problem with those talking points is the fact that they ignore the inconvenient fact that for nearly three years The United States has been supporting, funding and arming al-Qaeda (aka the "Syrian Rebels") who happens to be our sworn enemy in time of War (remember that thing called the "War on Terror").

Not only has Obama provided material support America's wartime Enemy but he has the innocent blood of the Syrian people (which the "Syrian Rebels are not) who overwhelmingly support Assad's attempts to restore order.

The chemical weapons attack back in April was the work of the Syrian Rebels (who are funded by the West), according to Carla Del Ponte a senior UN investigator. The Russians claim that they have satellite images that prove that the most recent chemical attack came from rebel controlled areas and have invited The United States to present their fabricated evidence to the UN for review.

Obama (and the American People by proxy) are neck deep in lies and have the blood of innocents on their hands - which cries to Heaven for Vengeance.

Vengeance is coming to the West for what we have done to Syria.
