He definitely needs to get Congressional approval for any strike (act of war) that is not in response to an attack on direct US interests and poses an imminent threat. That is in keeping with the spirit of the US Constitution as well as the wording. He risked being branded a war criminal both domestically and internationally if he carried this out on his own.

The only problem with those talking points is the fact that they ignore the inconvenient fact that for nearly three years The United States has been supporting, funding and arming al-Qaeda (aka the "Syrian Rebels") who happens to be our sworn enemy in time of War (remember that thing called the "War on Terror").

Not only has Obama provided material support America's wartime Enemy but he has the innocent blood of the Syrian people (which the "Syrian Rebels are not) who overwhelmingly support Assad's attempts to restore order.

The chemical weapons attack back in April was the work of the Syrian Rebels (who are funded by the West), according to Carla Del Ponte a senior UN investigator. The Russians claim that they have satellite images that prove that the most recent chemical attack came from rebel controlled areas and have invited The United States to present their fabricated evidence to the UN for review.

Obama (and the American People by proxy) are neck deep in lies and have the blood of innocents on their hands - which cries to Heaven for Vengeance.

Vengeance is coming to the West for what we have done to Syria.

It's not a trap. If the US doesn't act, the slaughter will spill out even more so than it already is. If the US does act, it may still spill out but it will be dealt with from a position of responsibility and a position of strength. To not do anything is to wait until what's taking place in Syria is taking place in the heart of Europe and into the heart of America - then it's too late to save anything.

So, in a sense we're damned if we do and damned if we don't. The question is, do we send the cops in to deal with a house fire spreading to the entire town to try to save at least some of the occupants from killing themselves off and dousing the flames - or do we do nothing and watch ALL of our homes burn to the ground unchecked.
