Probably because they don't get high enough to not be in Earth's shadow....But occasionally they do glint in the sunshine of the day, Same as some contrails get highlighted in the early evening.

Uh not so fast buddy, there is a GLP'er who states there is no moon and what we see is just a projection of the old moon. Of course he doesn't suggest when, how or were the old moon went but he will call you a fool if you believe all that NASA and science magic stuff.
