As for who created Hamas -- you can thank Israel for that. Looking for a rival Islamic faction to play against Fatah and destabilize the Palestinian territories, Israel started funneling money to a very radical, little known group that would be Hamas.

Sure, Hamas kills a bunch of jews sometimes. But they also killed a lot of Fatah rivals, the invited a lot of Israeli air strike reprisals, they provided political justification and cover for Israeli incursions as well as blockades and curfews all across Gaza [which they have effectively turned into the world's largest concentration camp].
