DRUGE POLL: Give Obama Authority to Conduct Military Operation in Syria? | |
ohnonotagain User ID: 30684538 United States 09/03/2013 12:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Correct me if I'm wrong, but Obama can use the military without the Congresses approval as long as it is not a Declaration of War and is in limited scope & time. Quoting: ohnonotagain So, IMO this poll is BS! Druge is an Epic Fail on this one. You are so missing the point! How am I so missing the point? The title reads "Give Obama Authority to Conduct Military Operations in Syria". Who needs to give him this authority when he has it already? If you are not aware of it, it's the Wars Power Authority Act of 1973. This grants the POTUS the authority to commit military assets for up to 60 day deployment with an addition 30 days for extraction. So, this Poll is BS, yes? Now, if you ask my opinion, than NO he should not. Peace! "The Tree of Liberty is Thirsty and needs Watering" -Me |

He has the authority to do the attack regardless of a vote in congress or poll taken. He will even ignore the UN Security Council. He's outside the envelope on this one. Just like his executive-orders on guns. Vote No and get stabbed in the back as well. The usual Obama technique of getting what he wants. |

[link to www.wnd.com] Evidence U.S. bribed Muslim Brotherhood officials Document surfaces ahead of criminal trial of ousted leaders Published: 08/24/2013 at 8:01 PM Jerome R. Corsi A question apparently being raised in next week’s trial in Cairo of Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood leaders facing criminal charges is this: Was the Obama administration paying bribes as large as $850,000 a year to the Morsi government that were distributed by top ministerial level officials to Muslim Brotherhood leaders, with the direct involvement of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo? WND is in possession of an official document from inside the Morsi government that lends credibility to a report published in Arabic by an Egyptian newspaper in Cairo that lists the charges brought by the current military-controlled government against Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood leaders. As seen above, WND has obtained official records from the deposed Morsi government in Egypt, with signatures, documenting monthly “gifts” paid to Muslim Brotherhood leaders in Egypt by the former prime minister and foreign minister of Qatar, Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani. The document was seized from Egyptian government offices in Cairo when the Morsi government was deposed by the military July 3. As translated by former PLO member and native Arabic-speaker Walid Shoebat, the monthly “gifts” listed in the document amount to bribes paid by the Morsi government to leading Muslim Brotherhood members in Egypt, including an annual payment of $750,000 to $850,000 in U.S. dollars. Shoebat explained to WND the names listed on the Egyptian government document correspond to information the Egyptian newspaper Almesryoon has just published in Egypt reporting that the Cairo district attorney’s office has begun investigating alleged bribes the U.S. has paid through its embassy in Cairo to the Muslim Brotherhood. Quoting: ohnonotagain So, IMO this poll is BS! Druge is an Epic Fail on this one. Obama cannot engage in acts of war without congress. Attacking a sovereign country which does not pose a clear and emminent theat to the US is unconstitutional. Period. I think you're wrong...you may want to research that! No I'm not wrong. Obama can engage in war in defense of our country. That is the extent of his war power. He can deploy forces as he wishes. He cannot attack sovereign nations without provocation. Clinton went into the Yugoslavia mess without approval in the house. The vote was tied. He had approval from the senate. He was a popular president and the airstrikes were succesful, conducted as a part of NATO, and sanctioned by the UN. So he got a pass. Obama is in a much different boat. |

The War Powers Act of 1973 was intended by pro-Communist Democrats to reign in the power of President Nixon to deploy forces in Southeast Asia to fight against the Democrats' beloved Communists. Little did they know that 40 years later it would be used to thwart pro-terrorist Democrats and reign in the power of "President" Obama to deploy forces in the Middle East to fight on behalf of the Democrats' beloved terrorists. |

John McCain of Arizona said Monday after meeting with President Barack Obama that congressional rejection of a resolution authorizing U.S. military force in Syria would be "catastrophic," adding it would "undermine the credibility of the United States and the president of the United States." Congress will not vote on Obama's request to authorize the use of force until after it officially returns from recess September 9. Follow coverage of breaking news on CNN TV, CNN.com Ummmm. Oblahblah has already done a marvelous job of that well before this latest idiocy. McCain is a RINO, so irrelevant. Hell, most of this current group of the folks in DC that call themselves republican are no different. Unfortunately, their struggle for relevance is what worries me most. Well Georgia's Senator appears to agree with McCain. Looking more and more like they will vote yes. Senator Chambliss says U.S. needs to take action in Syria WALB) -Albany According to U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss, it's time for the U.S. to take action in Syria. "Now we're seeing a cruel dictator in Syria not only seek to tamp down the uprising from the result of the Arab Spring, but we're also seeing a dictator in Syria use chemical weapons against his own people," said Saxby Chambliss, U.S. Senator. President Obama decided to ask Congress for authorization to take military action. While Senator Chambliss welcomes the discussion on what action should be taken, he believes the President had the power act without Congress. "Well I would rather the president have gone ahead and taken military action, made that hard and tough decision then come to congress and let's have the debate, but as it is, he's made his decision, I'm fine with congress having a full and open debate on this issue, I look forward to it, and that will take place next week, we will be preparing for that debate this week," said Chambliss.
