Yep, she's OLD. She was refitted/refueled over a decade ago but she's still over 45 years old.
Hell, my brother served on her out of Virginia in the Mediterranean during the mid-70s & he's been retired for a long time. He's an old man now.

When I was in elementary school he sent letters to me, written aboard The Nimitz. Mailed from Spain, etc.

I still have them, the stationary has USS NIMITZ headers, pretty cool as it was her maiden voyage.

In one Islamic country (don't recall which) he was arrested for yanking the veil off of a young woman while he was drunk. Our parents got the call while we were living in an Arabian Gulf country. I remember crying because I assumed they would kill him. I was just a kid, maybe 8 or 9.
