Israelis are looking out for any excuse to nuke Iran (a nuclear precedent that will create a rule and make an example at the same time), but they need Syrians to lob a few chemical warheads over Israeli border first. In the absence of the same, poisoning a few thousand of their own citizens will still provide the so much needed excuse.

Iran is definitely going up in nuclear flames, and after seeing how easily Russians sold out one of their allies, Syria, Iran has literally nothing to lose in a war against Israel. Neither has Syria, for that matter. One way or another, Syria is finished, as both a country and the people, in the short run just as much as everyone else is finished in the long run.

When no one has anything left to lose anymore, everyone will use everything they have on others before those others use the same on them. Any moron with half a brain can see how this is going to play out.

Or the Borei-class Ballistic Missile Submarine considered by western naval analysts to also be most advanced of its type at half the cost of a comparable US Ohio-class BMS. They've invested in a Navy with one purpose - to defeat the US.

The arms industry is a massive generator of surplus value so it isn't going to disappear tomorrow. There are residual echoes of the old regional capitalism still lingering but the reality is that with each war by the leaders in capitalism, the Anglo-Sacons, the rest of the world acquiesces despite all the hand wringing. These elites know which side their bread is buttered on. Assad and a few of the old school nationalists are being systematically removed.
