"Special needs" is simply a euphemism for permanently genetically flawed and inferior human.

The problem for the rest of us is how do we tell the 1 special needs child from the 99 obnoxious little brats whose parents don't care a damn about ruining your meal.

True. I've known kids who are NOT "special needs" and are just plain spoiled brats. This article is strange. How could a perfect stranger tell the difference?

Society slaps a special needs label on every child who can't control him/her self. If there's any hope of humanity continuing past the next generation or two, we need to stop enabling and start differentiating between medical problems and parenting fails.

If there's any hope for humanity, more people would learn compassion.


But the truth is, there is no hope for humanity, despite any of this.

I know someone who has a beautiful friend who has a young boy. In school, he's considered "special needs." At home he screams and yells until he gets his way. The mom and dad cater to his every need. He's spoiled. He has not been diagnosed as "special needs." He is not autistic.

They will have big problems when he's a teenager....guaranteed. Sad.

As someone who has worked for 35 years in special needs I can say that this small note may have made the day for this one lady, the truth however is far from "god only givse special needs children to special people"

A lot of the times , having a special needs kid is a nightmare, a traumatic nightmare

Why, is the kind and understanding restaurant owner going to give me a free meal because I couldn't eat it in peace...or is he going to expect me to pay the full price.

Can be perceived positively and negatively. Doesn't necessarily mean its an encouraging message. This is the media telling you what to think.

It's the people who make rude and stupid comments who must really have a crappy life. Feel bad for all of you. What a sad existence to always be so judging and harsh. Hope you all don't have kids yet or all of your grand babies yet - you never know

Eat at home if you don't know how to tolerate others. It's a fairly basic human skill. How sad that all you can think of is $$$$ while a struggling parent has to raise a child who's autistic.

Why shouldn't I think of $$$, do they grow on trees...or do I have to go out and work for them. If I go into Chuck E Cheese or McDonalds then I sort of know what to expect. But when I go somewhere better then I expect the parents to keep their kids under control. You talk about toleration like it's a one way street, well it isn't. Babies cry and kids make a bit of noise, I'm not demanding perfection, but I do expect parents to consider other people.

Besides this "special needs" thingy has gotten way out of hand. You sound like the lady with the double wide buggy who expects everyone to jump out of her way for them. Well guess what, a lot of people are getting fed up with it.
