Crazy thunder in Seattle

sounds last week...wonder if it is related?

Only area here. Woke up this am (6ish) to some flashes but no thunder. Since then have heard a few distant rumblings. One closer by that sounded pretty normal but who knows.... With the quake earlier (Seattle area) and the one yesterday off the coast I will be extra alert for the few days.

The moment of waking up.

My son is in Kirkland and is enjoying it. He grew up in the south where thunder storms are common, so considers this a treat.

intense thunder, lightening, and rain on Vancouver Island this morning.

there was a crazy lighting storm just a couple weeks ago in seattle and people described the lightning in the same way. Honestly friends and I have noticed this phenom for about the last 4 years . lightening sounding like bombs , it seems to coorelate with the esclation of extreme weather . I think it has somthing to do with our upper atmosphere or the composition of the atmosphere has changed ? Also there have been reports of lots of pets behaving strange in seattle last couple of days . the sounds in bc were them letting the krakin take a breath of freash air .. I am serious

I live in Olympia. I have been in horrible thunder storms. Nothing that has sounded like this. I feel like I'm back in Iraq.

the lightning is way up high in the atmosphere so the thunder can echo for over 20 seconds. pretty cool, but 100% normal phenomenon
