Jetpack42 User ID: 40582332 United States 09/05/2013 06:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I live in Citrus County, Florida which is bout an hour north of Tampa. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32397903 For the last 2 days, we have been smelling natural gas around town. It is very faint but definitely a methane type smell. I thought it was localized, but just watching ABC Action news out of Tampa, I saw that there are reports of natural gas smells in other areas. The authorities are attributing it to a "new pesticide" strawberry farmers are using. Any one else in the Central Florida area experiencing this? Or anyone around the Gulf? Perhaps the sea floor is cracking releasing gas? or maybe there are a lot of strawberry farms around. idk. :/ Well there are deinfitely a lot of strawberry famrs in that area. That being said...bullshit. I'm not necessarily saying it's the gulf cracking up...but no county would allow there air to be taken hostage by a methane smell from pesticides. |

This is what GMO strawberries smell like, I guess we'll have to get use to it. Its for our own good. - It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brush fires of freedom in the minds of men. - The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil constitution, are worth defending against all hazards: And it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. - Samuel Adams - "When injustice becomes law resistance becomes duty." - Thomas Jefferson - |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 32397903 United States 09/05/2013 06:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | yes, there are strawberry farms around here...but they are very scattered. and seems weird that people over 100 miles away are reporting the same smells. unless all the farmers are using the same pesticide. but seems fishy. i dont think the gulf is splitting in half, but i wonder if a small crack released a lot of methane in the last two days. |

Central Florida is quite swampy and decaying matter can often create Sulfur like smells, It could be a lot of things but it's not natural gas unless a gas main is broken somewhere. |

Natural gas is a petrochemical. Oil is natural, so is the gas that we harvest from oil deposits. Following the northridge earthquak we were digging for a broken sewer line in La Brea CA. 14 feet down, we hit Oil! The world is floating on it, and it is Not Bio-mass, the Earth produces it and it is bubbling out of the ground , all over the planet, right now,it always has been and it will as long as God wants it to. |

So God wants us to ALWAYS use oil huh ? Never use our brains to find other cleaner ways huh ? That is some God you believe in there. Gasoline for all intents and purposes is poison. No other way to say it. It is. |

Nobody said Natural Gas. They said a gas smell which usually as of late is Methane. There were lots of reports of Methane smells around the Salton Sea late last fall and it was attributed to Methane and the Volcano's hidden in and around that area. Florida because of its location to the Gulf and we already know that YES there are CRACKS in the ocean floor. Need we remind everybody that they are still leaking oil and yes sweet gas which is shallow and need reminding again that there is a huge Mthane block there that IS MELTING! People have short memories. |

Well this was when it was over the Gulf, so i was thinking maybe methane leaking from the Gulf was causing in, plausible theory right? or radon coming from the ground can also make lightning flash bright. |
