Are your wireless network connections failing periodically, and you can't figure out exactly why? I might have an explanation. Maybe.

I'm not sure about anyone else here, but I know that my friends have complained about the same thing. Almost every other day, I experience a loss of connectivity to one or both of my wireless home networks.

I've moved the routers away from other electronics best I could, but to no avail. So, until just a few minutes ago, I had thought that the problem was primarily related to interference from one router to the other, and/or from neighbors maybe running something more powerful than I.

Now the interesting thing that just happened causing me to ponder otherwise (possibly), was a recent flyover by one of those damned black helos we've been seeing more and more around here over the past year or Two. This one just flew directly over my house (a few minutes ago), and as soon as I could here the thing, my wireless networks (both of them) went completely offline, and when the thing faded away out of range, they came back up. Well, one of them did anyway. I had to reboot the other.

So, I was just wondering if anyone else might have experienced this same issue in the past? If so, it may be something (that we still likely couldn't do much about). If not, I might just have to go invest in a new router or two.

OP, you may have a point. I live on a flightpath between Buckley AFB and NORAD-ish. C-130 and all kinds of helos are always going over and my wireless is always conking out.

Wireless is microwave, which is a band that most mil hardware just blanket with absurd wattage - enough to cook your eyeballs right out of your skull.

Thanks. This might be paying attention to. Again, probably can't do much about it, but it makes me wonder exactly what the hell they're doing up there.

I know that there are ample reasons that can cause the issue otherwise, but it was highly coincidental and suspect nonetheless.

BTW. As soon as I posted this thread, I was booted out of my account and could not log back in.

Hmmmm.

I've seen a couple of these posts, I too have been experiencing connectivity loss with router/wifi, I have to unplug both to reset them and everything comes back, no air traffic to speak of but it is odd that I've been experiencing this in just the past couple of weeks and every day it drops at some point. Haven't had difficulty with either in years. Something's up.

I had a problem with mine doing that but it was the phones and tablets causing it. I got a 2nd router amd had to manually assign each device an IP and that fixed it.

Not at all saying the networks arent getting sniffed.

Just saying that phones and tablets can cause a network to do random drops that affect the entire network.

install inSSIDer, see what channel you are on and see how many others are on the same channel. If someone else is on the same channel ' it will drown out your signal so you lose connectivity. this is called co-channel interference. to fix it you will need to pick a channel no one else is using like 11 or 6 or 1. If all three are saturated then you need to invest in 5 Ghz router for house and 5 Ghz radio for the laptop. Then you can use one of 26 channels.

Not only do smart meters overcharge, collect detailed information and make people ill, but they will also disrupt your wifi.

This was my problem! As soon as I discovered the neighbor was suddenly using the same channel I had problems, so I changed it. Fixed everything!

Before I had that happen on the wifi, but my 3g and 4g is still flowing when that happens.

Don't think it has anything to do with choppers in my case.

Just had another one of those stupid black helo's buzzing the neighborhood, and again knocked out both of my wireless networks...

This time it flew very low over the houses...No markings, and had some sort of ball just below the blade...
