Which is worse? Following your own path, being different and suffering for it. Or going along as you are told to ease the pain and suffering?

With the greatest rewards come the greatest challenges.
The suffering I see as a bridge to tread over while staring down at the chasm that lies below it every step of the way.
The path itself holds no peril, but walking it and experiencing every aspect of it forces one to acknowledge the potential for peril inherent in the path.
The real peril lies in allowing oneself to stray from the path and to second guess one's progress along it. Look back or step backward and the amount of suffering that must be perceived along the way is only delayed or made to have to be experienced all over again.
If only it were merely a leap of faith. It's more like a hike that starts over each time one questions why one is suffering and fails to instead acknowledge why one is choosing to perceive what is of one's own making as personal suffering.
