Eww I can't stand beans aside from Mild Chili but I meant besides that, and I have a very picky boy too.

One thing that is often looked over, but is extremely important Is your own physical preparednes.

If you are not physically fit you won't be able to hike with that 40 pound rucksack.

Becoming fit does not really cost anything financially. It's an investment of your time and energy for return of your own health.

I do Tacfit commando. It's a type of high-intensity interval training, That incorporates flexibility mobility and recovery into the program.

All that is required is a yoga mat.

I can deal with the bag. It's the necessities I am really talking about. BUT what you are saying does make sense.

Um, well, in an emergency situation, I don't think you'll care that you or your boy don't like dem beans.

The government will look after you in any given emergency situation. That's why you have FEMA.

Start easy and cheap

Water .... I keep refilling milk jugs, whether I need it or not, can be used for bathing and cleaning, if not drinking

Food...I can everything, ESP now when produce comes in, can dry or can fruits and veggies, and ESP meats

Fuel...I get a 2.5-5.0 gal gas can every paycheck and fill them. Store Nd rotate

Every payday I look for something else I might need. Go on a prep website and start a wish list and every pay get another item

That is at least a start. You can always add on from there.

Dont throw throw anything away....zip bags, alum foil, soda cans can be made into lamps and cookers, broken crayons can become candles, egg cartons can make great fire starter molds, dried leaves can become fireplace bricks....

That's awesome. I do have a small portable cooking thing, tons of candles, the small yet cheap stuff. I live in a small place so storing isn't easy. I use to have a prep site saved on my computer until I bought a new one. I need to look it up again. Let's just pray nothing major happens anytime soon.

One of the main things you should get is a water purifier, even if its just a small pump one and/or purifier tablets.
I few good Knives like a Gerber, Kershaw or equivalent.
Good Hiking boots and some wool socks. A form of fire starting would always help. Raingear that is durable, and a rechargeable or crank charge flash light/radio.

I have 2 bottles of the tablets. I seen those drinking straws I wonder how well they work. I got a knife, boots not hiking but they are boots so I will look around for those. I have water proof matches, a flint to go along with it. I have the disposable rain gear and those metallic blankets. And I have the last also. So there is a few things I need along with sleeping bags and some kind of coverage like a tent or large tarp.

Pasta and water, remember the more protein and salt you eat the more water you need. Stock up on your medications if it applies, and some over the counter ones too. Always fill you gas tank at half. Get a gun and learn to use it.You can get a cc used gun for about 250 in decent shape. Keep some cash on you, in case we have a power outage or the government seizes bank accounts. Get some camping supplies, blankets in your car, garbage bags for your waste. Make a plan with close friends and family. People you can trust. I mean all this is on the net. What I just mentions can be done for about 500 dollars minus the cash on hand. We will have time, if we don't none of the above matter because it will be to late.

Starving kids will eat. Being the parent means you gotta think about the but picture. Sometimes needs are more important than wants. Or they aren't and you hope you die early in an emergency.

How do you know I'm not? Just because we haven't had end times doesn't mean something won't happen in my state. I live in an area where there is volcanoes, storms and floods.

The gas is always something my dad taught me to do. I have an account but I never really keep money it. 500 dollars I can probably do pretty soon or at least part of it. I am more concerned about my child's welfare than anything.

You already doomed to start with the ewwwwing.
Once things get bad as they are going to the word picky wont be in your vocabulary.I suggest you start eating a few of those terrible survival foods now so you wont suffer so bad when you have to start eating them and you will...

Yes I eat a lot of things I dont really like since I am on limited income I have to in order to make ends meet.If something is cheap I buy it and eat it even if I dont really care for it.Either that or be hungry at times.

i am an avid vegetarian ... when im about to die... ill eat you i dont care haha

In my opinion if you want to help your child, start teaching him how to shoot, Hunt, dress animals and fish. also with that book it has plants that are good to eat. Set up a group of friends and family because you wont be able to survive alone.
