One thing that is often looked over, but is extremely important Is your own physical preparednes.

If you are not physically fit you won't be able to hike with that 40 pound rucksack.

Becoming fit does not really cost anything financially. It's an investment of your time and energy for return of your own health.

I do Tacfit commando. It's a type of high-intensity interval training, That incorporates flexibility mobility and recovery into the program.

All that is required is a yoga mat.

I can deal with the bag. It's the necessities I am really talking about. BUT what you are saying does make sense.

Try purchasing a quantity of canned foods that you might normally eat.

Canned tuna is good for protein.

As someone else mentioned beans are good as well. You might get a few pounds of dried beans and rice.

If you have a water filter and a rocket stove which is portable, you can make food and survive.

Do not overlook water if possible to have stored.

A first aid kit and some form of protection is wise also.

Good luck on the journey toward being prepared.

Best.
