NEVER EVER Build a deck in your backyard...RAGE THREAD

I occasionally build a wood deck when work is slow. I fuckin' hate 'em. You have my sympathy Goat! I recently built one for some fellow who wanted 'mortise and tenon'. He said, "Not a screw one, got it."

Okie doke! For what it cost him, he could have bought a really nice hot tub and got to pro football cheerleader to do him in it.

When I wrote out the contract and the completion receipt, I told him, point blank, this is a limited warranty. Unless I fouled something up or the wood was defective, I was not responsible for the long term condition of said deck.

I scrubbed with sodium perchlorate and have tried lots of other cleaners


I am afraid of pressure washing my pressure washer is not that great, You can actually fuck up a deck even MORE by power pressure washing!

just spray with Clorox and water. You know, a 2 gallon garden pump sprayer.

Great way to wreck your deck!! use Penofin cleaner and sealers

I did, but the mold and mildew is so engrained...

Hard and expensive to do elevated...and if it cracks..your screwed to replace all

Just drink a few beer and powerwash the thing.

Then spray it with a sealant coat if you feel like it.

If you are wanting to build one, make sure you choose composite fake wood...

I wanted to just turn the pressure washer onto highest setting and carve FUCK IT into the wood

holly shit just use f-18 and f-10 from bobs pressure teak, no more than 800 psi( no furring} ... 60 grit for the left over ,

u must ph the wood after u strip it with f-10 to neutralize it and get the grey out

let it dry 48 hrs , pump spray 2 coats of readyseal , your deck will look like furniture, they do when i finish :)

My house had a cement patio, and some years ago they built a slightly larger wood deck over it. The wood deck was there when we bought the house.

The wood's (pressure treated) in pretty bad condition, deep enough splinters that it would be pretty hard to sand enough off. But it's not warped, no mildew, etc. WE've just put up with it for six years, use it all the time, just be careful if you're barefoot on it.
