No single culprit, just like there is no single silver bullet cure for most ailments, but the numbers speak for themselves.

Look at the amount of vaccinces kids received 20-50 years ago and the insane amount they are given now.

My next door neighbour from a previous life took his baby boy for his, I forget, second or third batch of immunizations. The kid changed something scary. He was a happy, smiling, laughing kid, who was a treasure. From the moment they brought him back that day and up until the day I moved a few months later, the boy cried incessantly. He didn't just cry, he screamed, nonstop. He also responded to communication much slower and sometimes not at all.

When I spoke to the parents, I tried to make a soft introduction to the whole vaccine issue - amount, adjuvants. They brushed it off like I just told them it rained yesterday. Very quickly, the parents got used to the little boy's screams and just dragged him around everywhere like a temperamental ragdoll, by now convinced that they simply ended up with a bad luck of the draw; they were going to have a hooligan. Sad.

I agree that vaccines are nasty business. Yet countries like Norway that have eliminated thermosol in the vaccines actually saw and increase in autism and the country (Japan?) that outlawed the mmr vaccine saw no change. The mmr has been around for ages and not till the mid ninties did the rate skyrocket. Perhaps the GMOs do something genetically that causes the reaction/intolerance to the vaccines. Also this would explain the Amish conundrum as well since they grow their own food and use heirloom seeds. Does anyone know if the Amish use GMO feed or food?

YES! I've been thinking this for awhile now! I also agree that it's not the ONLY factor but it definitely is a big key ingredient!!

I am inclined to think the gm soy is a big culprit. Especially considering the amount of soy baby foods and formulas these days. I hope I live to see a day free of this madness.

And OP, I totally agree with you. I, too, tried to figure out what would be the cause of not only the spike in autism, but obesity, diabetes, mental illness and lots of other health-related issues and I keep coming back to GMOs/manipulated food sources.

Sounds logical. I wasn't discounting GMOs earlier. In fact, the above did cross my mind, as I was typing. Not long enough, I guess.
