Let me explain to you what happened with Obama in case you did not get it. | |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 46052366 He did this because he knew he would lose. Now he is again free to strike without approval, he made it clear in his speech that it is HIS decision. It was important that he got it across to you that he as the commander in chief could make that decision at any time. He will make that decision. It would have looked bad if he made it without the approval of your house, congress and senate, but now he has stopped the vote that he would have lost, so strike is back in his own court. He will make that decision. |

Great analysis by the way, i kind of figured since he didn't have the votes he could still use executive order, but when? He will still need to have a good excuse as the chemical one seems to be waning. |

It's like we're living in some kind of time-shifted reality in an alternate universe... just keeps getting weirder by the second. Quoting: DigitalFoo Peace. Yeah i was thinking the same thing, just keeps getting weirder in weirder. Took over 2 countries (Iraq & Afghanistan) all over some desert rats named Osama and Sadam. Then the thing in Libya, all kinds of rhetoric with Iran, and now all of a sudden Syria is in our scope. The thing with Syria is just making me dizzy. First he's going to attack and said he don't need congress, then all of a sudden were putting it to a vot, now he doesn't want them to vote when they don't have the votes, wow, do they really think we are all that stupid??? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 27913998 United States 09/10/2013 10:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Area of concern from speech (Part 1) "Other questions involve the dangers of retaliation. We don’t dismiss any threats, but the Assad regime does not have the ability to seriously threaten our military. Any other retaliation they might seek is in line with threats that we face every day. Neither Assad nor his allies have any interest in escalation that would lead to his demise. And our ally, Israel, can defend itself with overwhelming force, as well as the unshakeable support of the United States of America." Note the bold area.... if Israel is hit... expect the US to go in as well.... Area of concern from speech (Part 2) "And that is why, after careful deliberation, I determined that it is in the national security interests of the United States to respond to the Assad regime’s use of chemical weapons through a targeted military strike. The purpose of this strike would be to deter Assad from using chemical weapons, to degrade his regime’s ability to use them, and to make clear to the world that we will not tolerate their use. That's my judgment as Commander-in-Chief. But I’m also the President of the world’s oldest constitutional democracy. So even though I possess the authority to order military strikes, I believed it was right, in the absence of a direct or imminent threat to our security, to take this debate to Congress. Note the bold area.... it is past-tense. He believed he WAS right. If he is still thinking that asking for Congressional approval is the correct move, then the statement should be: "... So even though I possess the authority to order military strikes, I still believe that in the absence of a direct or imminent threat to our security, we should take this debate to Congress." See the differences? |

What he says is no guide to what he is going to do. Might as well make up random phrases and analyze them. Best to keep after Congress to deny Mr. Obama the authorization to attack anybody. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1103915 United States 09/10/2013 10:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | whatever happens he can blame someone else. he is a monumental liar and the king of indecision. At this point he may have the very real fear of assasination in his future. he has flouted the Constitution since day one and played at being emperor so overtly that even his most staunch supporters six years ago are talking impeachment. No president has the authority to declare war. That is the sole jurisdiction of Congress. That's why mr sneaky pants prefers to just have "stikes" against targets while he is off on the golf course. Again, so he has plausible deniablity. Why do democrat presidents all hide behind that? Carter did it. Clinton did it with everything, and now obozo - who ran on a ticket of transparency in govern- ment, hides everything, and lies about it twice. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 22849365 United States 09/10/2013 10:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Before he was Pres, he flatly stated that the Prez "does not have the authority to go to war without the approval of Congress." Too many congressmen have publicly stated that it would be illegal for him to do so without approval - it is not his authority to wage war, separation of powers and all… If he does this on his own, he will face impeachment. He knows this. He will have to use his NSA secrets to blackmail enough congressmen to get them to agree with his intentions. That shouldn't take long, based on their corrupt nature… |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 46324403 United States 09/10/2013 10:59 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Nope..not a bluff. Here's the proof [link to www.oldthinkernews.com] Vice President Joe Biden, who is backing the White House in its push for a “limited strike” on Syria, predicted in 2008 that Obama would be “tested” by a “generated” international crisis. The Middle East and Russia were specifically mentioned as origins for this crisis. During a 2008 fundraising speech in Seattle Biden stated that, “Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.” The alternative media at the time speculated about what the crisis would be. Biden said that the event would unfold 6 months after Obama’s election. Five years later, we are witnessing such a scenario unfold with the escalating situation in Syria. |

That is the only way you logically arrive at the conclusion that bombs will solve this "phantom" problem? If we bomb, I expect nothing to change here in the US. People won't even care about it. It is after all a 2 week old story... Boooring to the sheeps... When and if the SHTF here or there against the US, it won't be five seconds before people ask... but why did they do this to us? The stupid hurts... |
