I know GLP likes Putin, but did you really forget that during the last election they claimed there was something like 105% turnout? Putin MAKES UP the poling numbers and rigs the elections. Whatever you may think about him, he is not the much beloved leader who was somehow magically elected 3 times. He served from 2000-2008, set up a puppet president who elected him as Prime Minister, and then changed term limit regulations so he could serve another six. Have you forgotten the massive protests that went on when he did this? He is a former KGB agent who has completely usurped Russia's democracy. He's killed so many people that oppose him that no one dares try to depose him. He is very close to becoming the next Hitler in scope of power and influence. Wikileaks described the Russia regime as a Mafia state. His economy has largely improved thanks to the fact that he raised taxes on the rich by introducing a flat tax of 13%, which Republicans balk at here because they claim it would "destroy the economy." |

"..Vladimir Putin has frequently praised the Christian Russian Orthodox Church for "educating citizens in a spirit of patriotism and love of country, passing on love for spiritual values and history." For his part, Kirill said that he hoped that the Lord would help Putin "in performing the high task God gave him." The patriarch also praised the prime minister for the way he managed the economic crisis, which has had a greater impact in Russia than elsewhere in the world... Putin is also investing $100 million to rebuild Christian churches throughout the country. Money to rebuild theses churches is WILLINGLY coming from Russian tax payers. This would be impossible in the United States of Obama or in the Republic of Ron Paul. And unlike America there are very few permanatley unhappy Ayn Rand worshipping Libertarians in Russia! The Russian Libertarian Politial Party, formed in 2003, disolved in 2006 for lack of interest. Its not illegal to be a Libertarian, a Satanist or an Anarchist in Russia. For the most part Russians are just too CHRISTIAN to be Libertarians (or Satanists). That whole Ayn Rand/Libertarian connection to the Church of Satan is America's DOOM. The roles have been reversed. From 1999: Proud KGB spy Putin is named by Yeltsin Prime Minister of Russia. Almost immediately, Putin orders a massive bombing campaign against the tiny, defenseless breakaway republic of Chechnya, apparently seeing the reassertion of Russian power there as key to overall resurgence of Russia’s military and state security apparatus, his primary political objective. On August 26th, he’s forced to acknowledge the horrific consequences of the bombing. Hundreds of civilians are killed and tens of thousands are left homeless as civilian targets are attacked. World opinion begins to turn starkly against Russia, especially in Europe, very similarly to the manner in which it has polarized against U.S. President George Bush over Iraq.
