Jehovah witnesses punish their kids by denying them food??
I went to a Jehovah witness church today for service. I am not Jehovah witness but my husband is. He asked me to go to one of their meeting so after 13 years I finally did. This group has a meeting about their watchtower magazine and if the kids do not ask a question or give comments they are not allowed to eat lunch. I heard this myself so any of you Jehovah witnesses that are going to brow beat me for posting this, save your breath...you are a cult......period
Ephesians 5:6-9 CEB
"Nobody should deceive you with stupid ideas. God’s anger comes down on those who are disobedient because of this kind of thing. So you shouldn’t have anything to do with them. You were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord, so live your life as children of light. Light produces fruit that consists of every sort of goodness, justice, and truth."

On a positive note about this church. I did agree with him saying about showing your children through positive role modeling, etc so it wasn't like they were biting the heads off chickens or anything but the guy did say that so i am sorry if my truth bothers you but that is exactly what happened....sorry.

This is a big fat lie,I used to be jw and iv got kids. And grown up now, we all used to have huge picnics together at weekends we'd have tea and cakes after meetings, we invited each other for tea for outings for what ever, iv never heard so much rubish, I left for religios truths, they are good people, but as always there's bad in all religions .

It's not nice to answer a question with a question. No, I didn't "used" to be a Jehovah's Witness and am not, nor have I ever been one.

Now are you going to answer the question?

Re: Jehovah witnesses punish their kids by denying them food??
I was a JW for about 5 yrs which involved several different congregations. Never, ever did I witness or hear abusive directives given to the congregation by the elders who ran the meetings.
But there was one elder at one congregation that did beat his kids and he was kicked out after all efforts to correct him was ineffective.
They were good honest clean living people.
I left because of doctrinal differences.

Excuse me here if I do not use correct terminology here but I went to the main sermon and then after that was this watch tower discussion. There isn't a separate place for the kids like I am used to In My church where the kids went to a Sunday school. They were mixed in with adults so I have no way of knowing exactly now many kids there were exactly. The dude was saying to the congregation in the main sermon that one way to get" your" child to participate in the watch tower portion was to deny them lunch. I left before the watch tower talk...the main sermon was enough for me to know that this religion is not for me.

Re: Jehovah witnesses punish their kids by denying them food??
My husband was raised as a jw along with his cousins, who were regularly abused and when children services where called to investigate these kids, the congregation protected this man that did unspeakable things to his children. My own husband witnessed this. One of his cousins where caught masterbating as a child, which is a natural thing that happens to a child and he was made to get up and talk in front of the congregation telling them what he did and now wrong it is etc....that's crazy and so is that religion.

Have no idea what terminology has to do with it, but thank you for your answer. It sounds quite a bit different than your opening post stating that "if the kids do not ask a question or give comments they are not allowed to eat lunch". So, we'll disregard that statement as not being factual and go on to the next.

What was the main sermon about? Curious as to how that suggestion would have fit into a sermon.

Thanks for your answer. From what I've seen of their Watchtower, there are a certain number of questions that are asked. They are at the bottom of the page. If every child that was present answered a question, it doesn't seem there would be enough answers to go around. The magazine seems geared to adults. Aren't they the main ones that answer the questions?
