Re: My son is OK - thanks for the support
I just read this and I'm sooo happy he came home. I was praying for him. Big hugs Geo!
**The first step to salvation is to realize that we are all sinners:
Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 6:23
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Thank you - I had to go lie down a while ago - have not been getting much sleep lately. My boy has been like 10 kids in one at times, ever since he was about 2 years old, and I have health issues - I can only do so much. I am so exhausted - I just could not sit here and read some of the nasty comments, too, that was not helping. But I did go back and read the posts and you all are very kind. My son has been the most difficult thing I ever could have imagined dealing with, next to my health issues and other life challenges. But I love him to death and I am so thankful God watches over him. I usually keep my cool better than this and wait it out and he eventually turns up, but this time it just got to me and I really was not feeling sure of what was up. I'm not a psychic or anything. My health issues have been robbing me of sleep and even when I lie down it does not come - have tried many remedies, allergic to many meds, but working on it. It isn't always that bad. People are so quick to judge - you have no idea what it's like to have a kid that can never stay in one place, ever, like ADHD times 1000 with a lot of randomness thrown in. Just when you think you have him back on track, the randomness surges again. Never a dull moment. I try to not get too wrapped up in it because I have to try to maintain my own peace of mind and not have it depend on what anyone else does, even my kids. That just is not healthy.

Good night!

Is your son's cell phone a smart phone? If so, you can have him install an app on the phone that allows you to remotely retrieve it's location via GPS coordinates.... If he disappears again and he's got his phone on him, you would be able to have the location (address + google map link) of the phone emailed or texted to you. Might be an option to consider.

Re: My son is OK - thanks for the support
So very glad to hear he is safe.

My nephew, now 24 with Aspergers, has become very independent in how he lives his life.

He has a distinct way of viewing the world, which leaves little room for the variables those without autism may allow as alternatives. He senses what is the correct way something should be done based upon logic as he understands it...which is actually very interesting and usually most sensible.

When he sees variables that seem illogical or pointless, his curiosity is more to quasi-question 'why' others could do, feel, say, think 'that' way, all the while reinforcing what he 'knows' to be correct thinking/action. He'll laugh at a dichotomy he views as fuzzy logic.

-----------

This plays into his independence. Although he has quite a number of places he likes to frequent, his parents only have a limited knowledge of where all these places are.

Like OP's son last night, he tends to get side-tracked on his way home when he sees someone or something that interests him.

His parents have had difficulty learning to 'let go' because they ARE parents...while he cannot fully grasp WHY they are so concerned.

It is somewhat of a Catch-22, because in HIS mind -he's just fine. He has his own world, his own way of doing things, and it is not always the way we would hope.

I hope that those visitors to this thread who cannot grasp what goes on in these unique minds stop thinking that 'reasoning' is an easy task. Parents can only have so much influence once the child's mind is made up.

Oh just so relieved and happy for you. Woke up with it first thought in my mind and coming here to check.

I hope things get easier and you become healthier and stronger - I completely understand.

And I have known that kind of panic with my own kids. Had I been a GLPr when they were in highschool I probably would have been posting threads every weekend! :)
